    Your looking at this all wrong. Assyria put a curse on Babylon after they removed the people then destroyed the city. The king made the curse 70 years, this is documented. His son reversed the curse or changed it saying was for only 11 years so the city was rebuilt.

    I can’t believe that this exact amount of years was a curse put on the levant or Jerusalem also as a curse. Either the idea was stolen or the writings were changed.

    Crazyguy2, I'm not really suggesting Marduke said or did anything. Yes the text seeks to say the decrees by Sennacherib and Esarhaddon were divinely inspired as agents of the gods.

    What is reeeeally interesting in both examples, Jeremiah and the Essarhaddon text, the word for 70 is coded. In the Essarhaddon the cuneiform symbol is inverted and in the Jeremiah text the letters are atbash code, meaning the letters are swapped with the corresponding opposite. A for Z, B for Y etc. Mark Leuchter did a write up on this and sees a clear evidence of influence.
