watson, I along with you am considerate of copyrights. The .pdf files of all these publications (except, to my knowledge, the 50s books) are available from several other sources (e.g. freemind). I've not heard of any problems (nor have any others with whom I've discussed this issue).

I'm no lawyer, but I surmise that since this material is being distributed without charge, and since the original publishers no longer even make this material available, then any potential lawsuit would be hard-pressed to establish that any damages could be awarded.

    My burner is warming up

I can post the files on a password-protected FTP site at my work. I will probably have to use our secondary Internet connection so that I don't impact normal business operations. Our secondary connection is synchronous 768kbps.

I am the sr. network admin at my place of employment so I have some freedom to waste resources like this.

Someone is sending me the combined vol 1 & 2 CD. I'll make an ISO and let people know when it's available.

What is an ISO image file?

ISO is short for the International Organization for Standardization. (ISO is not an acronym. Instead, the name derives from the Greek word iso, which means equal.) The ISO 9660 format defines the file system used by almost all CDROMs of Windows, Mac, Linux and so on.

An ISO image file is a duplicate copy of a complete CD-ROM disk saved in ISO-9660 format. ISO image files are widely used for storing CD content and quickly transferring it through the Internet. ISO is a common CD image format for DOS, Windows (Joliet ISO extension), Linux (RockRidge ISO extension), and other operating systems.

Most popular CD burning programs can create a CD from an ISO image; just select the .iso file you've downloaded as the source to copy from. The program will know what to do.

I have these as well, and would be happy to make copies to share. Feel free to send a PM my way, and I'll start production.

It would be such a shame for "This Old Light" to disappear (a thousand apologies to Bob Vila), due to the Society's neglecting to include them in their own CD collections.

These are valuable aids for the "Worldwide Education Work".

    Love, Scully

PS Regarding copyrights - Apparently the copyrights on the publications have expired and have not been renewed.

Thanks to a certain very Spiritually Mature (TM) person on this board, Yours Truly will be receiving these CDs by post soon. Thanks man! It's much appreciated!

Prepare for a barrage of humourous articles as soon as I get these and "infiltrate" the old publications...hehehehe...those were the ones they never let me look at in the Kingdom Hall library, probably with good reason! Yay!

I just today received the Vol1/Vol2 CD in the mail. Thank you!!! I'm very impressed. The books are in PDF format and appear to be direct scans from the Society's books. However, they aren't simply images as the text is fully searchable. Fantastic!

I will make the ISO image available for download via FTP tomorrow. More details to come.
