    interesting idea.

we could send to 1 or 2 who can burn more copies and 1 or 2 who can't - just so we spead it around

fairy if we can find one or two people in Oz who have burners it might be easier to get you a copy - otherwise we will get one to you direct from ? somewhere else?

Think I paid about $4 Can to send a CD to Aust once before

I would be more than happy to drop either a zipped or ISO copy(depending on the format of the file system) on my home server(broadband access) for people to download and burn later. I just need either a copy of the discs or a place to download the images from.

A set is on it's way to me (thank you, you know who ), should be here within a couple of days. I'll be more than happy to burn as many as y'all would like. I've got 150 brand-spankin new CDRWs on the shelf, just waiting for something to do

Please p/m if you'd like to use me as a source.

A question for those more knowledgable about such matters: those CDRWs I've got...100 are "imation" 80min/700mb, and 50 are "eworks" 80min/700mb high-speed (48x). Will it make any difference for this application?

Craig Do you have CD-R or CD-RW? You will need CD-Rs for this. Most people will not be able to read the RW on their machine. In my experience the brand doesn't make too much differnece for data files

I have a set on its way to me too so if anyone is interested PM me -- my email is still running a day late

Lady, the labels on both packages say CD-R.

See, I don't even know the diff between CDR and CDRW LOL

    Thanks,

    Craig

CD-R you can write on ONCE. Then the CD is closed so that it can be read on any computer. No new files can be added after that

CD-RW can be re-written on but it is proprietary - will only be able to be read on your machine. They are more expensive and I never use them anymore. In fact only bought 25 and still have most of them.

Also if you save data on a CD-RW and then reformat your hard drive you will lose the data file on your hard drive that will let you read the CD-RW - found that out the hard way and have a few miniature frizbees now

Wow, if you and your broadband provider would not mind the impact it would make on your system, that would be great! It would be much cheaper to just get an ISO image instead of having to mail discs around. Of course we could still mail them to people who don't have a burner or can't download a CD image.

I can host the ISO on an FTP server as well.

Just want to confirm that it will be ok to redistribute these discs without infringing on anyone's copyright.

I would love to get a copy, too. I need them for a book I am planning on writing later this year about WTS lies.

Here's a thought: can someone create a separate ZIP file for each CD and post them to an FTP site somewhere, password protected, and then distribute the URL and password to those of us interested?

We do this all the time with complete releases of software at my company, and it works fine, other than the long download times for dial-up connections (45 MB can take 3-4 hours for a dial-up 56K connection unfortunately.)

Of course, one can get a friend with a broadband connection to download the ZIP file or files quickly and easily and he/she likely has a CD burner, too.

    Anyone up for this idea?
