Question from readers: Should a youth who struggles with masturbation sleep with a pillow?
You young people know that it is wise to make such restrictions, especially during "the bloom of youth." (1 Corinthians 7:36). The Governing Body understands that youths find it especially hard to resist the temptation to engage in self abuse. With firmness and strength, a brother tempted to stimulate himself with a pillow, might find that lying on his back without the pillow, falls asleep faster and thus avoids practices displeasing to Jehovah. Some sisters have given into the "desires incidental to youth" even while engaging in personal study of the Bible (2 Timothy 2:22). One sister recalls reading the account at Ezekiel 23:20: "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys.” How did she react and with what result? The sister says, "at first I got excited but then I remembered how Jehovah punished Onan for wasting his seed." We encourage you young people to remain steadfast and to "Praise Jehovah from the earth, . . . you young men and also you virgins.” (Psalm 148:7, 12)
