Who will be watching the Eurovision Song Contest Tomorrow?

I don't know how anybody else feels, but I love the Eurovision Song contest. Every year my hubby and I stay up late and watch it live. We have a great time, a drink of very tasty shiraz and munching on yummy food.

Tomorrow night I'll have my DA'ed parents and some other friends over to enjoy the show. I wish Ozzie and Mrs Ozzie were here too, as the wine is good, but we will toast to them in their absense.

So does the USA get as excited as Aussies, and of course the Europeans, about the contest?

Let me know what you think, and who should've won.

Cheers, Bliss....................an Aussie with European blood running through her veins.

Here in the USA -- all we know about is American Idol. Pardon my ignorance, but I've never heard of the Eurovision contest. How often is it held? What is Eurovision? Is it strictly a singing contest? Do contestants come from all age ranges? From where do the contestants come?

I've watched one of the heats a few weeks ago, but I wasn't aware that it was going to be on tomorrow! What time is it on????

I read an article the other day that the Russian "lesbian" duo "Tatu" were going to perform. Apparently they didn't want to rehearse but the organisers insisted, telling them that if they didn't rehearse, they wouldn't be included in the show. The organisers were planning to film the rehearsals, because the girls said they were going to put on a very explicit performance, and the organisers were planning on using the rehearsal footage if the real performance gets too raunchy for them.

Gopher, the Eurovision Song Contest is a musical contest for performers from all over Europe contest. Past winners have been the Brotherhood of Man ("Save All Your Kisses For Me"), and perhaps the best known winners of all, ABBA ("Waterloo").

Edited to add: It's on 8.30pm Sunday SBS http://www.sbs.com.au/eurovision

This was actually their 'launch pad'. So many superstars have performed representing their countries. I recall that one year one of Mrs Ozzie's family friends actually performed.

Thanks for the invite, Bliss, but afraid we can't make it. Nevertheless we'll be joining you with shiraz.

For those of you north americans who don't know much about european culture, this is like the World Series of song, OK?

    Cheers, Ozzie

    Bliss,

Our mutual friend is watching it 'live' on BBC and tells me that Belgium are doing well. The placings are being marred by 'political voting' however, but Terry Wogan's in good form!

    Cheers, Ozzie

OK, we're watching it. A bit 'samey' isn't it?

I'll go for Israel and Germany, in that order. Well, my choice but they won't be the winners!!!!!

A lovely nostalgic evening, eh Bliss!!

Cheers to all, Ozzie and Mrs Ozzie
