Some of us left simply because we didn't believe it any more.

Some us couldn't stand the hypocrisy.

Some of us left so's to have more sex.

Some of us saw another light shining brighter.

Some of us wanted more material possessions.

Some of us needed more control over others than the borg would allow.

    What do you think?

All of the above--; especially the sex

I've often wished that I got out for a more "noble" cause. . . but I'll admit that I was in this group:

Some of us left so's to have more sex.

BUT, a month or so before I got df'd I started looking at tons of apostate literature so I was convinced that getting df'd was a good thing anyway.

I left because our Sunday meeting time changed to the afternoon and this conflicted with my Dolphin season tickets

    Austrian,

Many years ago, a certain event led to the WT study being brought forward lest the attendance fell to near zero.

Because of my dad I always knew the jw doctrine were BS so I was never afraid of dying at Armageddon. Leading a double life can get exhausting. I left the first chance I got and have not looked back.

Everyone has their own reason for leaving the Jehovah's Witness cult, depending on their unique, individual circumstance. Often it is a combination of factors that drives a person to make their exit.

However, given the reasons Englishman provided, I would say these apply most to me.

Some of us left simply because we didn't believe it any more.

Some us couldn't stand the hypocrisy.

to which I would add one more reason that sums it up for me.

Some of us could no longer willfully live a lie, despite the consequences of standing up for a principle.

Reborn is singing my song again, I just could no longer live a lie. Added into that, I was supposed to go door to door and tell other people they were going to be destroyed if they didn't join an organization that I considered hypocritical and cruel, and I could barely look at myself.
