Can the GB be directed by Holy Spirit and at the same time be not inspired ?
Annon - "They talk about theocracy meaning ruled by God, but the dictionary definition of theocracy means ruled by priests..."
Since when has the WTS had any qualms about redefining dictionary definitions when it suits them?
re. the OP...
Barb Anderson once put it best...
...that they've managed to invent a "quasi-inspired" status that justifies the rank-and-file's unquestioning obedience, but still conveniently excuses the screwups that they're responsible for.
No. The JW teaching that their organization/leaders are spirit-directed but not inspired is a foolish self-contradiction. Look at their definition of inspired in their own Insight book. It says (and I'm paraphrasing): 'the quality of being directed by a spirit from a superhuman source'. 'Directed by a spirit' is the same as saying 'spirit-directed'. Thus their own insight book unwittingly implies that 'spirit-directed' means the same as inspired. They're playing a deceitful word game with the minds of JWs. They're telling JWs to their faces that they're not inspired. Then they're using sneaky language that amounts to an indirect claim of being inspired, to get JWs to treat them as if they're inspired.
A distinction without a difference is the best way to put it.
Which also begs the question, why and how was the Holy spirit so awesome back in the day (bible times) but can's seem to get anything right today? (Assuming the JW org is directed by holy spirit like they claim).
For those that accept the bible as inerrant, which is it is not !! and the scriptures are inspired by "god", writing as the spirit moved, [directed] them?
wt almost claims equal authority.

Once again, for the newbies, lurkers, and trolls...
...if you have to cheat to defend your beliefs, your beliefs don't deserve to be defended.
It really seems to be a case of “selective inspiration,” in that, just like “selective hearing,” it is a matter of subjective convenience.
The GB’s “connection” to the holy spirit is kind of like a semiconductor microchip in that the circuits on the silicon wafer can be conductors or non-conductors of current depending on its chemical properties using a method called “doping.” In the same way, the GB can be inspired or non-inspired – conductors of the holy spirit or not – by another method of “doping” – that is, using a bunch of dopes to comprise a GB which selectively purports to be inspired whenever it is convenient! (I.e., “inspired” whenever they seem to be believable, and then just imperfect and non-inspired when otherwise – which is really by far most of the time.)
Its astonishing when think about how far out and away the WTS acts or expresses itself from the bible, yet says its being directed by the god's holy spirit, which reflectively creates another question from whom or which spirit ?
Let's review: It's a Cult!
As in like totally!
