Ecclesiastes 12:12,13

Whenever you think of your time in the Organisation you'll remember all of the books. Every year at a convention, new books brought out. Shelves at home groaning under the weight of multicoloured covered WTS books!

And then the weekly Book Study group meetings to study those books, underlining answers laboriously.

As many on this site have said before it was nothing more than a prolific publishing house out to make money from the rank and file.

They don't translate Ecclesiastes 12:12 the way most Bible translations do because it clearly tells you not to do what the WT was doing and made us do -- "But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive study is wearying to the body." (New American Standard Bible).

Instead of a constant stream of books they should have listened to verse 13 of Ecclesiastes 12 -- "The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person." (NASB) It is that simple.

Why didn't we see that when we were in?

Good point Lost in the fog about Ec 12:12...their 2013 NWT words it this way:

"As for anything besides these, my son, be warned: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh."

It was truly exhausting, boring & laborious reading through what eventually just became a pile of waste!

Talk about a fulfillment of prophecy...Ec 12:12 is fulfilled in the printing factory of the WTBTS!

That's why they "don't publish books anymore". Now it's all about the nice app, eBooks and great films!!! 😉😜😝

We didn't see it because the WTS kept us busy reading and underlining and preaching and going to meetings... the idea is for the rank and file to never have enough time to stop and think and to ask questions. Plus, they hammer home the idea that the GB must be obeyed at all cost because they are the conduit to God via His Holy Spirit. To question them is to put your eternal reward in peril.

The one thing that all of those factors have in common? Pressure. They keep pressure on you, so that you are either too tired, too busy, or too scared to do anything but go along with it. That's why it can feel so oppressive to be a JW, and why it can feel so incredibly liberating to get away.

It is one thing to publish research results on a concrete entity, the immense universe, another to keep picking away at a a collection of books , covering a few thousand years in an area of a few thousand a square kilometers. cubit.

We didn't realize it because we were too busy thinking we were in the right and everyone else was in the wrong. Nothing negative would ever applied to the Watchtower. It's a stroking of the Ego.

    Let's put it in perspective....

"But beyond this, my son, be a scammer: the writing of many books is good for making money, and excessive study is unimportant as long as you make money for TOMO3rd to get drunk."

I am very familiar with this scripture and of course the organization will readily use it to discourage higher education and university education but not their outdated and running outdated publications that are reprinted frequently like never before.
