That's the heartbreaking part. However, I'd say that maybe that conversation could stay there. There are many now ex-JWs who start remembering that type of encounters when they start learning TTATT. You never know what wakes people up. Maybe the abrupt "goodbye" is a sign that you hit a nerve. You just never know.
