Each person has to weigh their individual circumstances and make their own decision. For us, "fading" has (so far) proven to be advantageous. Our diehard JW family members (who matter) just consider us as "weak and inactive, or stumbled" and do not shun us. Other JW "friends" still greet us and speak easily with us, even though we haven't gone to a meeting or Field Circus for over 3 years.
Also, in my opinion, DFing and DAing come from the JW Rule Book. I don't go by that book of rules any longer. I'm NOT going to play by their rules. . . . Doc
