Just wondering who on this board believes in hell (flaming hell that is a commonly shared belief by catholics and others) and why. I personally think it is bull doody caca. the entire concept is goofy. anyway, can't wait to here your thoughts.

Cant help thinking that if the hellfire concept didnt exist, then the WTS would have thought it up and used it.

A flaming burning hell of fire is real and fact. Those who do not accept it are in for the surprise of their life, or non-life. I know this as a fact. I saw the proof and evidence in several cartoons.

Uh-oh we all know that if it happens in a cartoon then its real...

    d0rkyd00d,

i don't believe in a hell of fire, or ice or any such place where
tangible devices of torture are experienced. i DO believe in a
hell described somewhere as a place of nonexistence -- the
place we came from before we were conceived. wherever i
was before i was conceived, THAT place is hell, and we'll all
    be there soon enough.

Is there anybody on this board who DOES believe in hell? so we can chew them a new one?!? j/k. seriously though, for those of u who don't, what do u actually believe happens after you die? I honestly don't know. I do believe there is a heaven, although i'm not sure if that's cuz i was raised to believe it or what. i guess, without a heaven or afterlife of somesort, life would be kinda disappointing. especially since most try to live there lives for the afterlife.

For the life of me, I can’t recall what I was like before I was born, let alone imagine what I would be like after my life passes its “expiration date”.

Well if by Hell you mean a flaming place where a guy in a red suit pokes you in the backside with a giant fork, as much fun as that sounds like unfortunately that does not exist. I think hell is simply non-existence. As far as an after-life since I do believe in a creator this leads me to believe in some form of after-life, what it is composed of exactly I am unsure of.

    Hi dOrkydOOd,
I don't believe that God has set up a fiery, torcherous place of eternal
torment for imperfect people to go to if they don't live their life perfectly.
There are scriptures in the Bible showing that when we die, that's it.
Until God resurects people that is.

Even though the WTS has proven itself to be a man made and man run org.,
I believe they did get a couple of teachings correct. i.e. hell, what happens when we die,
Jesus not being God,but the Son of God.

As far as the teaching of a fiery hell,I think that when that teaching was originally used, it
was to keep people in line.
The same way the WTS uses the teaching that if people don't become JWs,they will die
    at armogeddon.

There have certainly been misconceptions regarding many aspects of the
metaphysical world including someplace refered to as Hell.Generally,
however, it seems that many misconceptions are created as a result of
something which has the likelihood of existing.Interestingly, most
cultures whether Christian or not have some concept of some form of punishment after death. I believe that the existence of a general
feeling of `rightness` or morality predicates some form of punishment
when that morality is blatantly abused. If there is no price to pay
wherein lies the necessity of acting contrary to basic lustful desire. Certainly, no one of us actually wishes for people to be free
at all times to act accordingly to the passion of the moment.Rather
we believe there is good in suppressing selfishness for the good of
others. If there were no judgement, no future price to pay, all such
repression of desire would become meaningless. The result would be
a world given over to lawlessness. Thus, although I don`t pretend to
have any idea of the nature of `Hell` it does seem consistent with
logic to maintain a belief that there will be a `day of reckoning`.
A time when all men will have to give account for their deeds done in
the flesh. If that position makes me a fanatic...I welcome your comments and ideas. JWD
