Student (age 6-18) deaths from COVID-19-involved illnesses are projected at a rate of 0.0001% as a percentage of their peers. They died from influenza-involved illnesses at a rate of 0.0005% in 2018.

Workforce (age 19-55) deaths from COVID-19-involved illnesses are projected at a rate of .01% as a percentage of their peers. They died from influenza-involved illnesses at a rate of .007% in 2018.

Retired (age 66-77) deaths from COVID-19-involved illnesses are projected at a rate of 1% as a percentage of their peers. They died from influenza-involved illnesses at a rate of .05% over the same period.

Geriatric (age 78-up) deaths from COVID-19-involved illnesses are projected at a rate of 4% as a percentage of their peers. They died from influenza-involved illnesses at a rate of .3% over the same period.

Should we close the national school system for a disease with a projected .0001% student fatality rate when we left it open for a different disease with about five times that rate (i.e. the 2018 flu season)?

The 5 trillion-dollar question is: Do we as a nation heed what the numbers are telling us? Or do we instead listen to all of the fear porn when crafting state recovery plans?

The numbers are also telling us that we should mourn those we've lost and to seek answers to how and why COVID-19 made it into the wild in the first place. They're telling us that we need to keep using reasonable precautions but summarily reject all of the fear porn we're bombarded with on a daily basis.

The numbers are telling us that we'll get past this, but we had better listen to them if we have any expectation that our self- concocted national remedy is not to be worse than the disease itself.

    1. The WHO is flailing in the credibility department.

    2. We can not trust reported numbers for any aspect of covid-19. Not China, not Russia, not the USA.

    3. What is clear is that covid-19 is grotesquely misrepresented and not anywhere near the pandemic the powers that be want for whatever their misguided or unknown agenda is.

    4. We have now entered a global depression. Why?

    5. Everyone needs to go back to work, back to school and back to the bar watching professional sports competing in front of live audiences.

    6. What is fear porn? I understand fear tactics but when you throw porn into it, it just reinforces all the reasons we should probably stay under house arrest.

It kills old people. They should stay at home until a vaccine or medicine is found.

Let everybody else go back to school and work.

The problem with schools opening is that there are also a high number of adults who work in schools as well parents involved., there is the possibility of transference by children to adults to be considered.

This whole subject of shut down not only has to do with who will get the virus to their effect but who will transfer over the virus to others, which can be a real deadly game to play around with.

Shut downs are starting to be removed with precautionary measures thankfully.

The other concerns at hand will be the financial cost to small businesses and unemployment, not to mention the blooming tax bill which is going up and up.

Having food to eat, a functional heating/cooling system, electricity, garbage removal, water and sewer are kinda nice too.

Lets think in practical terms and realize that if these shut down procedures were not issued there would a lot more deaths that would have occurred, maybe even you or someone you loved ie. family member.

Then what would say and question to your local governments to why they didn't shut things down ?

Its easy to criticize if you missed the virus and the potential lethal consequences.

The trouble is how accurate "deaths from" COVID-19 are counted.

Not everyone who dies, dies from it. Not everyone who dies that has it, dies from it.

There are financial incentives to over-count the numbers killed due to it, which means we've shot ourselves in the face when it comes to getting accurate information which is critical for good decision making.

Well done the healthcare industry - doing the wrong thing when it comes to healthcare, but ensuring they profit.

Facts we do know: the models were way more pessimistic that we need to be in reality. Healthcare systems aren't being overwhelmed and they are even closing emergency hospitals built without patients being seen.

We also need to exclude care home deaths in the counts, because they are not going back to work and it's skewing the decisions. They were amplified by people dumping COVID-infected in them to clear hospital beds. Sacrificed for a surge of cases that never came.

The other big failure, is that there has been fuck all useful educational information being presented. The media has been utterly abysmal.

Watch this and then wonder why things like this haven't been on TV to educate people on how things work, the factors at play and what measures are important and being looked at.

How many people in the UK have died or will die prematurely due to their treatments/surgeries being cancelled indefinitely by the National Health Service?

The NHS has become the National Coronavirus Service. I genuinely hope that when the pandemic hysteria subsides, many of the NHS "heroes" will have the courage to step forward and expose the cessation of treatments etc. as a propaganda sham. Two of my relatives "work" in a major English hospital. They are bored with nothing to do.

Seems to be a lot speculation and play down by people to the low number of deaths in opposition to the shut down tactics by governments, but would be spoken if the governments didn't shut down the social interaction of populations to how they did given the easily transference of the virus ?

I've heard some people say well the old are going to die eventually so let them, by people who are not of that age group of course.
