Watchtower April, 2017 Overview
Yup the "apostate spouse" thing is a nice little addition for the control freaks to let the "innocent" mate dump his/her marriage mate.
That may be a common consequence, but I suspect the real purpose is the same as disfellowshipping -- to get the "believing" mate away from everyday contact with apostate influence. Have we not all discovered that "The Truth" cannot win when confronted with TTATT? . . . . Doc
TTATT will set you free!
some married Christians have viewed certain situations as a reason for separation, such as the extreme endangerment of one’s life or spirituality by an abusive or apostate spouse.
This is a pretty big deal. Has WT ever said before this that it's ok to leave a spouse because of his/her beliefs?
perhaps no locks or keys!
In such a "perfect world", what justification could there be to lock something up? Who would be fearful of theft or break-ins?
It's really weird that they are so 100% absolutely certain of other stuff, but for some reason, their crystal ball gets blurry when they look for "locks and keys".
Interesting, but if you make a vow to something that doesn't exist, IE the god that personfies "Jehovah", it means nothing and the baptism means nothing. A vow is an agreement, you can't make an agreement with something that doesn't exist. The same as putting a plate of food in front of an idol statue will not result in its consumption.
The JW version of god does not exist. Guess they are desparate if they no longer use scripture.
First, humility will move us to acknowledge that we do not have all the facts. No matter how much we know of a situation, only Jehovah can read a person’s figurative heart.
Tell that to the 3 elders in your judicial committee.
The rest of the magazine is even worse.
Can't people tell the difference between a bible study and a cult indoctrination session. Its literally like they have stopped trying to pretend they are a religion or Christianity.
I think or at least hope the constant threatening of the rank and file will do more to wake people. Maybe not in this generation but the next one. I currently live next door to an elder in which 3 out of his 4 children didnt become dubs.
So in Feb they tell us the GB is NOT inspired...March we are told not to judge others consciences...and April we get the tightening of the screws yet again.
What a wild ride I am looking forward to in the coming year.
The dedication crap is a smoke screen. The following info on apostate spouses is the real big deal.
They couldn't leave it at what Jesus said about 'Scriptural grounds' for divorce. They had to add this next bit:
The Bible does not set out grounds for marital separation. However, some married Christians have viewed certain situations as a reason for separation, such as the extreme endangerment of one’s life or spirituality by an abusive or apostate spouse.
Isolate the import of the last sentence. 'endangerment of ... spirituality by ... an apostate spouse'
They are putting it in clearer than ever writing that leaving the marriage arrangement when the other spouse wakes up to the lies of the WT and declares oneself free of WT control and authority is authorized, and maybe recommended. They have equaled so called 'spiritual endangerment' to 'extreme' physical danger.
This is a straight up cult move. This is dangerous to anyone who has awakened, and their mate is still a zealous believer. This is going to get ugly for a lot of people.
Good point undercover.
The wording is interesting. They don't say what to do specifically but instead make the vague statement ...
The Bible does not set out grounds for marital separation. However, some married Christians have viewed certain situations as a reason for separation, such as the extreme endangerment of one’s life or spirituality by an abusive or apostate spouse
I could use that format to make the following statement...
The Bible does set grounds for certain observances and activities. However, some Christians have viewed birthdays as a perfectly acceptable event to celebrate with their loved ones.
