    TOMO can get his whiskey

    punkofnice,

good connection to the topic. Only a structure build like a whiskey casked, (aged in an Oak barrel , with steel bands) could have possibly survived the catastrophic flooding of the deluge event. really, it must have been like going over Niagara Falls.

On another direction, name Noah's wife, or daughters-in-law. Probably because they were just women and not important.

Note the KJV translation of the Bible (as we know it today and which the WTBTS supposedly references) makes no reference to the Nephilim being fallen angels, or that the flood was intended to remove them.

As far as names, Semjaza was the leader of this group (if I recall correctly, appointed by God to be the watchers) and came out of the Sons of God (not from the Shedim or Jinn as the WTBTS claims) and there were 200 of them, during the flood they left their bodies behind (as depicted in the Bible Story book) were subsequently cast into Tartarus. So according to this account, there have been multiple rebellions in heaven, one by Sheitan (Satan) and one by Semjaza.

According to 2 Chronicles and 2 Samuel though, David and his men were the one that defeated these “descendants of Rapha in Gath”

The Nephilim being the offspring of humans and demons and leaving their bodies in the flood to then re-join Satan is a very modern re-interpretation trying to read stories about giants in the Torah as a literal source and not allegorical.

Both of those narratives and relatively accurate depictions in WTBTS Bible Story book/publications are ONLY found in apocryphal books (Book of Enoch and Jubilees).

The largest modern, wooden ship, the Wyoming, built in 1909, was 450 feet long - about 50-60 feet shorter than the ark.

The length caused it to flex and buckle in heavier seas and had to be constanly pumped with steam pumps to stop it from sinking, although it had metal bracing for support.

Also, no one seems to know with any certainty what gopher wood was.

I would love to see a Christian reality show where they would take a much larger cruise ship with a lot less zoo animals and watch them fail miserably trying to maintain a full year in the middle of the ocean without any contact with the outside world.

@ rules & regulations - Whether someone believes in the Biblical story of Noah's ark or not, it certainly doesn't help when people/businessmen who claim to be Bible believers pervert the narrative by depicting the ark as a boat - pointed at one end and rounded at the other! It was not going on a cruise, it was a gigantic crate - built just to float. (according to the account)

The BBC created a Noah's Ark documentary several years ago, but within 10 minutes they perpetuated the Disney version of Noah's ark and ridiculed (correctly) the fact that a boat that size could not be stay intact without metal fixings. Sigh!

"Gopher" wood and all the subsequent attempts to identify the wood are the result of a scribal corruption. Beyond reasonable doubt the phrase was "pitched wood". The very next line repeats the direction to pitch the wood inside and out. It's an example of rivers of 'scholarly' ink spent on nothing.

You would not need to put a large boat in the water for one year to show how miserable the experience would be. Put a large wooden structure on land, fill it with animals, and ask a group of eight people to manage it for a few days. An afternoon of shoveling several hundred pounds of animal dung should be enough to demonstrate the horror show that the actual ark would have been.
