Bush Demonized, No Matter What

How many times has the left stated there is no need to have war, but Saddam should be just taken out? I've lost count how many times I have read that it all could be avoided if only Saddam were taken out.

Tonight, Bush tried to do just that:

U.S. launches cruise missiles at Saddam

    Saddam denounces attack as 'criminal'

WASHINGTON (CNN) --U.S. and coalition forces launched missiles and bombs at targets in Iraq as Thursday morning dawned in Baghdad, including a "decapitation attack" aimed at Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and other top members of the country's leadership.

The "decapitation attack" to take out Saddam was approved by Bush during an urgently called meeting at which the CIA director voiced concern that a prime opportunity could be lost, U.S. officials said.

One U.S. official said the attack was launched on the basis of fresh intelligence on the location of "very senior Iraqi leadership" -- including Saddam. One of the targets was in Baghdad and another south of the capital, the sources said.

After all the rhetoric about just taking out Saddam and avoiding any civilian casualties, one would think the left would be pleased that his first strike was just what they have been calling for. Was it? NO! Bush was accused right here of being a war criminal for doing just that. He's been ridiculed for his speech and totally demonized throughout the evening. This, after doing just what the left has been calling for him to do all along. Whether or not he got Saddam and any of his sons remains to be seen, but his first thrust was to go after Saddam instead of a major invasion.

All this confirms to me that the anti-war crowd is less anti-war and more anti-Bush. No matter what he does, the left will continue hating him and ridiculing him every chance they get.

If it we Gore initiaitng this war, though, I imagine the silence from the left would be deafening, just as it was when Clinton sent troops throughout the world into harms way, without UN approval! Odd how ones like Tom Daschle called for the removal of (by military action, if necessary) and demonized Saddam during the Clinton Administration, yet, now sees him as not too bad a guy, since Bush got into office.

To me, the left is overflowing with hypocrisy and tonight, reaffirms that.

Hypocrisy is everywhere. It's human nature to say one thing and do another. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is guilty of it at some point.

    But you are generalizing here.

I consider, and you probably do too, myself to be very left. Please do not assume I was ok with that was happening when Clinton was in office. I was not. I thought he was very wrong. The day the most bombs were dropped in Kosovo was the same day as Columbine. At the time our society was more focused on internal affairs as opposed to international affairs so it got more coverage and the bombings were swept under the rugs yet again by our media. 9/11 changed the view of Americans. Our entire focus became one of them verses us. Thus people give more of a damn about international affairs.

I can't stand George Bush. He has yet to do anything that makes sense to me. Tom Daschle is rascal and I hate him. Gore is a robot. If he were president and following the EXACT same course of action that Bush has, I would be screaming for peace as loudly as I was with Bush in power.

Dakota, I have always respected you even tho you and I have never agreed on politics. I don't judge people based on what political parties do. Nor do I honestly believe that because a party touts a course of action those who previously supported that party fall in line. I hope you don't either.

"We should round up the protesters and hang them for treason" said by one of your cronies on the news tonight. Let's get something straight, tomahawk missles, and guided bombs, are not precision instraments period, if you believe they are, your an idiot. BTW Saddam is alive, he broadcasted a message on TV, or did you bother to see that. For all we know, they bombed a day care. Why don't you go back to being a JW, you seem good at the party line, talk to me, when you start thinking for yourself.

Dakota is correct about a sizable percentage of the ‘anti-war’ crowd, Bush will be vilified no matter what course of action just because he is republican. I am for this war but I do realize that there are some plausible arguments to be made against it, to bad the majority on the left can not articulate them.

Please do not assume I was ok with that was happening when Clinton was in office. I was not. I thought he was very wrong.

alot of 'anti-war' people tell me this now, I never realized how unpopular Clinton was with the 'anti-war' crowd:

2 quick questions about you opposition to Clintons war
    1. Did you speak out against the war? if no why not?
    2. Do you have another solution besides what Clinton did? if yes what?
    3. Have you ever been for any war or are you opposed to all wars?
If my other post disturbed you so much, what about Trama's? You see any personal attacks in that post? Terry

This is what Michael Moore ("Bowling For Columbine","Stupid White Men") had to say:

    Dear Governor Bush:

So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you:

    1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the White House and on to any street in America and try to find five people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why? 'Cause NO Iraqis have ever come here and killed any of us! No Iraqi has even threatened to do that. You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works!

    2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never elected you -- are not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are that affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with I or end in Q. Here's what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost since you >took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their retirement funds are going to be there, gas now costs two dollars a gallon -- the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.

    3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr. Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.

    4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a SIN. The Pope! But even worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war? Of course, this is a war you personally won't have to fight. Just like when you went AWOL while the poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.

    5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE (Sen. Johnson of South Dakota) has an enlisted son or daughter in the armed forces! If you really want to stand up for America, please send your twin daughters over to Kuwait right now and let them don their chemical warfare suits. And let's see every member of Congress with a child of military age also sacrifice their kids for this war effort. What's that you say? You don't THINK so? Well, hey, guess what -- we don't think so either!

    6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some royal screw-ups. Yes, some of them can be pretty damn annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't even have this country known as America if it weren't for the French? That it was their help in the Revolutionary War that won it for us? That it was France who gave us our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built the Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who invented the movies? And now they are doing what only a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French and thank them for getting it right for once. You know, you really should have traveled more (like once) before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has not only made you look stupid, it has painted you into a corner you can't get out of.

Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go through with this war, more than likely it will be over soon because I'm guessing there aren't a lot of Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect Saddam Hussein. After you "win" the war, you will enjoy a huge bump in the popularity polls as everyone loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to see a good ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it 's some third world ass!). And just like with Afghanistan, we'll forget about what happens to a country after we bomb it 'cause that is just too complex! So try your best to ride this victory all the way to next year's election. Of course, that's still a long ways away, so we'll all get to have a good hardy-har-har while we watch the economy sink even further down the toilet!

But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few days before the election! See, start thinking like THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis -- they got our oil!!

    Yours,
    Michael Moore

Why is it that many from the leftist anti-war crowd can only articulate insults?

If you had read many of my posts, you would see that I preferred this war not ahppen, but it did, due, in my opinion, to the divided nature of the UN and them having no spine to stand up to Saddam. Now that it is here, I will support and stand behind our troops 100%.

For you protestor/terrorists that wish to block the intersection I drive through, better think twice. Protest and make your argument, but stay the hell out of my way.

Berten, thank you for showing me how well you articulate insults. It seems to be what the left is best at.

: Bush Demonized, No Matter What

Boy, did you get THAT right! The crux of the matter is that the left doesn't think he's a legitimate President and that he somehow "stole" the election from Gore. Therefore, since the left hates him so, it doesn't matter what he does or doesn't do: the left won't like it.

: After all the rhetoric about just taking out Saddam and avoiding any civilian casualties, one would think the left would be pleased that his first strike was just what they have been calling for. Was it? NO! Bush was accused right here of being a war criminal for doing just that. He's been ridiculed for his speech and totally demonized throughout the evening. This, after doing just what the left has been calling for him to do all along.

That's only ONE of a growing list of the left's hypocrisy. When Dick Cheney became Vice President, the left demanded he disclose all of his assets and sources of income. Although he didn't have to, Cheney complied with those demands. As a result the left became aware of what stocks he owned and demanded he immediately sell those stock the left felt would present a conflict-of-interest for the Vice President. Again, Cheney complied when he didn't have to. He made a profit on the sale of those stocks the left DEMANDED he sell, and so what did the left do? They screamed INSIDER knowledge when the tech stocks feel several months later!

Tom Daschle was among those screaming for full financial disclosure, yet his own wife is a congressional lobbiest who made a bunch of money. To this date, Daschle has adamently refused to disclose ANY of his own financial information.

The left and Watchtower leaders have a lot in common, and hypocrisy and double standards are but just two of them.
