Can anyone think of a financial gain in recruiting lower IQ members?- Millie

Maybe the best explanation is the most obvious and simplest one.

The Governing Body is made up of a few ignorant men who have no more than a high school education, if they even have that.

On top of that, they really believe their own bullshit, that they are being directed by Jehovah the Almighty God and Creator of everything.

Then on top of that, everything they have tried in the past has worked.

    Blood fractions----all the jdubs believe

Overlapping generations---- all the jdubs believe

Give us you money in your savings accounts---all the jdubs believe

What Child abuse? Those are lies. -----All the jdubs believe

    They have never lost.

They have a winning streak---- so far.

So why not push the envelope and see how far they can get away with?

Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us?

    Remember those words?

In less than 10 years, the Awake magazine has gone from 768 pages of content per year (24 issues x 32 pages each) to 96 pages of content per year (6 issues x 16 pages each).

    That's a 87.5% reduction in content.

Throw in super-wide margins, bullet points, and more photos, and you're easily over 90% reduction.

    At this point, why bother?

Awake's publication will cease, or at the very least go to online only, before the decade is out. The "public" Watchtower won't be far behind.

OneEyedJoe - "...stupid recruits are better than no recruits."

Seems like the smart ones are all leaving, anyway; what other demographic is there?

The GB is going to be royally PO'ed when they find out this was leaked, if they haven't found out already.

The AGM is their "star moment" - their "red carpet" - their "Oscars".

They get trotted out, and their wildest bug-eyed fans hang on every word, and burst into frenzied applause at every word dripping from their honeyed tongues. Think Apple conference, with (even more) religious fervor.

They - the GB - have all the secrets - they are the center of the universe as they release their nuggets of "new light" in their carefully rehearsed, precisely worded presentations.

    And now?

The letter is leaked. Someone from here will post it on JWTalk, or it will get posted on somebody's FB page, or it will get chain e-mailed all over the globe. Within 48 hours every JW with an internet connection will have access to the letter.

    The GB's thunder is stolen.

There is going to be a witch hunt on for the leaker that will make Ray Franz's persecution look like a Sunday picnic.

THAT is a very astute observation!!!

I expect that the WTS will eventually have a combined monthly issue of the Watchtower/Awake.

I expect that some including elders have complained about the 3 meetings on one night arrangement. Why I don't know since only one elder each week has to conduct a bible "book" study.

But with the seeming aging and no replacements of the elders, something has to give; I'm sure the elders feel overworked and more male jws are not stepping up to the plate (as past "encouragement" talks indicate.

But putting a hold on renovation/building KHs....(only in the US? or worldwide) will make more jws wonder what is happening to the contributions.

It makes me continue to think that the WTS brought in some corporation to rejuvenate the organization like HP or GMC or whatever is dropping, using non-jw thinking not even a semblance of spiritual outlook.

Despite what the WTS has said, I do not believe that the early Christian congregation saw that their success in conversion was dependent on technology.

make sense to combine awake and watchtower into one mag..the kind that you 'turn over' and read 'other way'...ie a cover at each end.. so half is awake and half watchtower....
