Do you have one? Here is an edited version of a favorite of mine:

    With Apologies to the Eagles
    Already Gone

Well, I heard some people talkin' just the other day And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf But let me tell you I got some news for you And you'll soon find out it's true And then you'll have to eat your crap all by yourself 'Cause I'm already gone And I'm feelin' strong I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why But I guess you felt like you had to set things right Just remember this, elders, when you look up in the sky You can see the stars and still not see the light (that's right) And I'm already gone And I'm feelin' strong I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo,hoo Well I know it was you who tried to hold me down Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains And we never even know we have the key But me, I'm already gone And I'm feelin' strong I will sing this vict'ry song 'Cause I'm already gone Yes, I'm already gone And I'm feelin' strong I will sing this vict'ry song 'Cause I'm already gone Yes, I'm already gone Already gone All right, nighty-night

I'm partial to "Hotel California" myself, especially this verse:

"Relax said the night man, we are programmed to receive

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...."

    Love, Scully

I always related my departure to the song "losing my religion".

    REM
    Out of Time (1991)
    Losing My Religion
    Life is bigger
    It's bigger than you
    And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
    The distance in your eyes
Oh no I've said too much
    I set it up

    That's me in the corner
    That's me in the spotlight
    Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
    I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

    Every whisper
    Of every waking hour I'm
    Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool
Oh no I've said too much
    I set it up

    Consider this
    The hint of the century
    Consider this
    The slip that brought me
    To my knees failed
    What if all these fantasies
    Come flailing around
    Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
    That was just a dream

Awhile back, WildTurkey posted the lyrics to this song by Rascal Flatts. I downloaded it and ever since then, this song as been "it". For me it speaks so much of my life.....

"I'm Moving On"I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I'm at peace with myself
I've been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
    I'm movin' on

I've lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they're always the same
They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it
They'll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong
    I'm movin' on

    I'm movin' on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone
There comes a time in everyone's life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone

I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I've loved like I should but lived that I shouldn't
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
    I'm movin' on

    I'm movin' on
    I'm movin' on

Blondie, I love that Eagles song! And it sounds great coming from you, knowing the place you're at as you're breaking free from meetings and such.

Here's another song that celebrates freedom, freedom like the J-dubs will never understand.

Bon Jovi - It's My Life

    This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
    You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud

    Chorus:
    It's my life
    It's now or never
    I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
    (It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
    Like Frankie said
    I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
    It's my life

This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake
    Luck ain't even lucky
Got to make your own breaks

    Chorus:
    It's my life
    And it's now or never
    I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
    (It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
    Like Frankie said
    I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
    'Cause it's my life

Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down

    Chorus:
    It's my life
    And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
    (It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
    Like Frankie said
    I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive

    Chorus:
    It's my life
    And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
    (It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
    Like Frankie said
    I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
    'Cause it's my life!

Gopher, that was my theme song. I left my abusive husband and the borganisation at the same time, and it was when that song came out. I bought the CD just for that song.

    You'll See

Written by Madonna and David Foster

You think that I can't live without your love
    You'll see,
You think I can't go on another day.
    You think I have nothing
    Without you by my side,
    You'll see
    Somehow, some way

You think that I can never laugh again
    You'll see,
You think that you destroyed my faith in love.
You think after all you've done
I'll never find my way back home,
    You'll see
    Somehow, someday

    All by myself
I don't need anyone at all
    I know I'll survive
    I know I'll stay alive,
    All on my own
I don't need anyone this time
    It will be mine
No one can take it from me
    You'll see

You think that you are strong, but you are weak
    You'll see,
It takes more strength to cry, admit defeat.
I have truth on my side,
    You only have deceit
    You'll see, somehow, someday

    All by myself
I don't need anyone at all
    I know I'll survive
    I know I'll stay alive,
    I'll stand on my own
I won't need anyone this time
    It will be mine
No one can take it from me
    You'll see

    You'll see, you'll see
    You'll see, mmmm, mmmm

I'll alway's think this is fitting.

    Jethro Tull Lyrics
" Just Trying To Be "

There was a time when you were so young and walked in their way.
They made you feel they loved you all-seeing they say.
You're going wrong if their game you don't play
And that the song I sing will leave you astray.

    Unfeeling, feel lonely rejection,
    unknowing, know you're going wrong.
And they can't see that we're just trying to be,
    and not what we seem,
and even now believe that it's not real and only a dream.

I think "nothing can stop me now" from Queen suits me best.

I don't have the lyrics handy though...
