Trends Where The Society Is Impotent

  The world is rapidly changing, making the Watchtower
  look more and more like a "buggy-whip" and "slide-rule"
  organization with every passing day. Consider some trends they
  can't stop:

  1) Women have brains and can lead just as well as
  men. They can be managers, run businesses, and
  direct successful enterprizes (except the WTS).

  2) Brothers and sisters who preach that the "End is
  coming SOON!" - have to prepare for retirement.
  Social Security isn't enough, most US jobs I know
  of offer some kind of 401K benefit. It's so lovely
  to see this sort of blatant hypocrisy/cognitive
  dissonance forced on Witnesses, to perhaps, get
  them to think!

  3) Technology isn't going away. They WILL find ways
  to slow down aging and cure awful diseases regardless
  of anything the Watchtower says -- and they will
  prove that life exists elsewhere in the universe,
  putting the earth and the silly religious claims
  made on it into CORRECT perspective.

  4) ...and lest we forget
  the gnarled old theocrats can't make the internet
  go away, either!

  Spot on. Social impotency is the forthcoming doom of the WT unless it changes beyond recognition. It will no doubt be a long, painful and drawn out decline, as most of those inside simply will not pull their heads from the sand and confront reality. New converts will dry up, leaving an ever aging and more frantically desperate membership, urged on to more and more sacrifices by the WT leadership.

  This is merely a repeat of what has happened in most of the world to other religions. Religion itself is the product of ignorance, imo. As humanity advances, so superstition declines.

  Legal challenges and "persecution" are not the greatest threats to the Watchtower. Their nemesis is free information and social derision, and swiftly may it increase!

  Also impotent due to "impotency" of modern man. lol

  Peeps today are not even marrying as often, have less
  offspring than before, delaying having children. And wanting
  them to get an education.

  As those dear ol stats show, the growth comes from within, NOT
  the d2d mission.

  In a few short years the majority of the world will have access
  to the greatest equalizer in man's history, the internet. When
  information flows across all borders, barriers, cultures and is
  available instantly and nearly free to all, the future will bring
  unprecedented change that will be the downfall of rigid dogmatic
  tradition bound institutions be they commercial, educational,
  governmental or religious. The world's population is going to
  become empowered beyond what we could have imagined even
  just a few years ago. We are priveledged to see it taking place
  for so many minorities and the wonderful results that accrue.

  I would'nt hold my breath waiting for those little green men to show up, it might make my Bible useless. I would however settle for little green bacteria.

  well, i dont think any of these are game-breakers, just steady trends. the WT will continue to post steady numbers for a long time to come...

  My time in the org. was relatively short compared to many people but I did notice one trend, at least at the local level, before I left. Many of the new members were people that come from the edge of society like prisoners, mentally ill, and the slightly retarded. I think as human society evolves and the org. stays the same the ratio of impaired witnesses to relatively normal witnesses is going to continue to increase. Normally the long-term consequence of a trend like this would be a talent drain that would eventually dilute the quality of the leadership, but really I don’t see how the organization could be run any worse, so I don’t know what the long-term effect will be.
