I found this old favorite song of mine. Take it for what it's worth. A day-brightener, yes, a cure-all, no.

This beautiful song was used as background music in one of Charlie Chaplin's silent pictures over 70 years ago, which I believe was called "Modern Times". The song is called "Smile",and its melody is still recognized by many today.

    Here are the lyrics:

SMILE by Chaplin, Parsons and Phillips

Smile, though your heart is aching.
    Smile, even though it's breaking.
Though there are clouds in the sky,
    You'll get by...

If you smile through your fears and sorrows.
    Smile and maybe tomorrow.
You'll see the sun come shining through.

If you just light up your face with gladness,
    Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever, ever so near.

That's the time you must keep on trying.
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find life is still worthwhile
If you'll just smile, come on and smile.

    If you just smile.

Thanks Gopher. How good it is to be alive. One of my favorites:

    WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
    (George Weiss / Bob Thiele)

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

    Oh yeah:

if you listen to the version of What a Wonderfu lworld by Eva Cassidy ..it will blow you away....

She also does a live version of
    Stings Field of Gold.....

    Fields Of Gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
    Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold
So she took her love for to gaze awhile
    Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
    Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
    Among the fields of barley?
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so
    Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
    Among the fields of gold

    I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
    Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
    Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
    Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold

At the end of the movie oh what a song. I stopped dead in
my tracks when I heard it. As the credits rolled and my little one
buggin' to go I stood and listened surrounded by Peace and
    Tranquility.The song-Over the Rainbow/What a wonderful
world by Israel Kamakawio'ole. It is on the movies sound
track . You will love it.
About Eva what a voice- my dearset brother turned me on to
her. But Steve the best version of "Fields of Gold" is Her
studio version off "Songbird". Seven enjoy the day listen

    Hi Gopher,
I'm new and have been going thru deep anger
and depression bouts. Smiling is great but not
at all times. I think what we suffer by leaving
JW's is a real form of death. We will never
get over it and this is imp. to accept. It is a scar
we will always bear. What such a cult can do to your
mind and entire life is disgusting and alarming.
They distort your perception of reality and getting
it back is a great challenge. I still have faith in God
however, and think he will get me thru this tradegy.
Instead of a forced smile its sometimes better to cry
and ask God to dry your tears. Then a real smile will follow.
May God Bless you all, Emyrose

    emy,

    welcome!

leaving the jws can be likended to death, but we can also be ressurected or have a rebirth in a way as well.

getting over it , so to speak is a human inclination, our body heals wounds, pretty well.

the internal journey , to find what we will accept , believe in , and worship , can be challenging , painful and joyful. We do learn, if we choose that perspective.

THE watchers of the tower are just men like us. we made a mistake, gave way too much of ourselves over to them....... now we have to get healthy , get strong , and not let this happen again, and if so inclined after...help others to do the same.......

hope to see more of your posts

    Emyrose,

Very well stated. I hope you can see light at the end of your tunnel fairly soon. Please feel free to share whatever you wish to share. There are plenty of understanding folks out here.

Emyrose, Welcome to the board and to "new beginnings." Most of us has at one time been where you're at now. Learn to once again believe in and love yourself as our Creator does. We're here for you, so post away. The road is long but those real smiles you talk about will be your reward.

    Best wishes,
    Seven
