Man, the article on "Faithful Older Ones" is a doosey! How does one encourage those ones?

Paragraph 2: By making them attend meetings, of course

Paragraph 3: By dragging them out in FS or imposing on them in their homes by bringing Bible Studies to them

Paragraph 4: (closest suggestion to a real Christian act, esp. if it involves giving them a meal) having them sit in on your family study

Yes, the right Apostate food at the right time!

The Proclaim the Kiingdom article is interesting too, esp. paragraph 3:

The kingdom will satisfy the wholesale desires of all obedient humans

By killing all disobedient humans, presumably. Why "wholesale"?

It will provide relief from suffering caused by war, crime, oppression and poverty

By killing 99.9% of the population

An abundance of food will be available to all

While the supply of tinned food in supermarkets left behind by those destroyed in Armageddon holds out, I suppose

The What to Say About the Magazines bit on Jan 1 Wt is interesting too (esp considering today is the 5th anniversary of my daughter's death):

When people lose a loved one in death or suffer form an illness, they often wonder 'Why does God allow suffering?' Perhaps you have asked the same question. The Bible shows that God feels for those who suffer [Read Isaiah 63:9a] This magazine explains why we can be sure that God will end suffering.

Hmmm. Is it just me? Whenever I went through my depressive episodes over my daughter's death, somehow the thought of God killing 99.9% of the population never seemed particularly comforting to me in my grief...

The phrase 'wholesale desires" made me laugh. What the heck are wholesale desires anyway? Cheap desires?

I noticed too that the literature being offered this month is all "192 page books published prior to 1988". Are they being told to spread old good news from door-to-door? Are they actually going to ask for donations for it? One major teaching that was still being taught prior to 1988 is that "the bible says that the generation of 1914 will by no means pass away" before armageddon arrives. That was a repetative in most of the liturature. Does anyone out here have or know which books ( even if you know of only a few) were 192 pages and published prior to 1988? Something sounds odd. Why prior to 1988? Why do they want to offer certain old books ?

Thank you both Stephanus and dmouse for your work.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I can't say that I know your pain, because I've never lost a child to death, but my thougths are with you at this time. And one more hug for ya. (((((((((Stephanus)))))))))))

    peace to you,

    Stephanus,

I am sending you hugs, big brother. Sorry about your daughter. I'll try to send positive vibes your way. Can you feel them yet?

"Wholesale desires"--probably because they're familiar with the concept of wholesaling. They wholesale the ragazines to the congregations, who in turn, retail them to the general public.

    Somebody asked

Why prior to 1988? Why do they want to offer certain old books ?

They do this to clear out old stock in the Kingdom Hall's literature department. Theoretically then all the literature on hand will be less than 15 years old. It seems to me that it may be to get donations from the publishers off the old stuff. Most publishers probably feel funny offering that old stuff anyways. (Along with these two magazines, let me "throw in" this old book "Worldwide security under the Prince of Peace" that helps us realize that in spite of the nuclear war threat, we can put hope in God's Kingdom. )
