    Valis:

    a winning basketball team

well, one "winning" sports team is better than nothing eh?

The eyegirl and I were planning a trip down there and we found out last week that LT was to be in town on that weekend so we were thinking of taking the journey at the same time so.... you may see the two of us as well

I saw that they were having a sale on Packers paraphernalia here

Does anyplace in town serve a good haggis?

The Dreaded Haggis (from Delia Smith's Complete Cookery Course)
    1 sheep's stomach
    1 sheep heart
    1 sheep liver
1/2 lb suet, fresh (kidney leaf fat is preferred)
    3/4 c oatmeal
    1 ts salt
    1/2 ts pepper
    1/4 ts cayenne
    1/2 ts nutmeg
    3/4 c stock
My favorite part of the cooking instructions was this little gem:
Press any air out of stomach and truss securely.

Aye, you have to press the air out, or it explodes, and you don't want to have to scrape THAT off of your range
Haggis, neaps and tatties... hard to beat!

Thanks for the info Valis - the flights are all booked, so I was coming anyhow, but it's always nice to know some of the attractions ahead of time.
Btw, are you telling me I need a boob job???

The Chicken dance sounds more and more interesting - LOL.

Remember, it's spelt "Scotland" but it's pronounced "Scotchland", so please remember to say it that way - he'll appreciate it and it will make him feel at home

Simon, as I pointed out the other day, you are good at leading with your chin. Now, apparently, you want to give the rest of us some practice. I think I'll pass, I don't "duck" as well as I as I did when I was younger.

Little Toe, You will enjoy Dallas without a doubt, but you may wish to lean to speak English before you get here, at least learn to speak it the same way as us Texans .

I talked with a lady from Scotland once, and she prounced it "Scutland." I Swear !!

..and don't forget the classic line so beloved of all men from Scotch-land:

"D'ye fancy a trip to Glencoe bonny lad? I could just murder a McDonalds!"

References to Campbells soup, Queen of the South and "C'mon the Redcoats!" are all guaranteed to make LT feel at home.

Eman, perhaps Britain should have used more Scotches and fewer Hessians...you might be living in sunny old Texas right now!

Ok....I'm getting more interest in Apostafest so I need to start obsessing over it early...I still need suggestions on where to eat. We need something for the kiddies, and for the adults, and good food. I was thinking and Dave & Buster's Came to mind. The have a game room, pool, shuffle board, and good food and a good variety including steaks. So I'm asking for your input. If you make me decide I'll have no whining from the silent ones..So here are the suggestions I have recieved so far.

    Trail Dust

    Dave & Buster's

Glorias (Where we ate last time)

Just let me know what your preference is as I want all your ideas.. I will probably have open house as well for those of you who would like to come by and visit. That will probably happen all day on Sunday and I hope to see you all there for a great weekend.

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer

Hmmm, tough choices. As you saw last Saturday, however, our little ones' [background chorus of "I'm not LITTLE!"] attention span is pretty short, so they'll probably end up staying home with a babysitter and a pizza. So, leaving them out of the equation, I vote for either Trail Dust or Gloria's, so we can give Little Toe a true taste of Texas. Not that I'm knocking Dave & Buster's! And I'll be happy wherever we go.

    Nina
