Yup, it's me, your Friendly Angel of the Presence and
Purveyor of Mystic Speculations, Metatron, at your
service.(them other sites is gettin' too tame for my
taste!)
Well, a few years back, (in my faithful elder incarnation),
I used to interview those hapless people waiting to be
baptised and ask them the Society approved questions
about being baptised before and completing the questions
with the elders.
But, being faithful, I became disturbed!
You see, the general demeanor of those getting dunked
(almost all teenagers) seemed similar to the way they
would stand in line for lunch at a high school cafeteria.
There was no horseplay but their lackluster, going-thru-the
-motions attitude upset me. I saw no vibrant expression
of faith - asking their name and congregation elicted
one word replies I associate with an interrogation
by law enforcement.
I'm not at all surprized that leaving home and the
organization occurs magically at 18.
When will the gnarled old theocrats ever wake up and
see what a fraud they rule over?
