Article: Reliable Advice for Raising Children

    On Discipline:

Dr. James Dobson wrote in The Strong-Willed Child (1978): “Corporal punishment in the hands of a loving parent is a teaching tool by which harmful behavior is inhibited.” On the other hand, in an article adapted from the seventh edition of the popular book Baby and Child Care (1998), Dr. Benjamin Spock said: “Spanking teaches children that the larger, stronger person has the power to get his way, whether or not he is in the right.”

With regard to discipline, the Bible states: “The rod and reproof are what give wisdom.” (Proverbs 29:15) However, not all children need physical punishment. Proverbs 17:10 tells us: “A rebuke works deeper in one having understanding than striking a stupid one a hundred times.”

Could this be provided to the commission during the break. It's a relatively recent references and opens up all sorts of questions regarding physical punishment.

Protecting children "isn't my field". What? Jackson isn't an elder?

he's still squirming about whether branch committees can change procedures for judicial committees.

he's being asked if the branch commitee can have a woman sit on judicial committees where abuse has been alleged. Jackson said he hopes the branch would make their recommendations to the governing body so it could be reviewed. Jackson says it is possible for different branch committees to have different judicial committee procedures - maybe even having women on them in certain cases?

the judge asking about biblical imediment to a woman being involved in the investigation.

"a victim should not ħave to face their accuser"

Yet that didn't make it into the elders manual? But direction on disfellowshipping a man for charging too high a bride price for the sale of his daughter made it in the manual.

If a JW said that a woman should be on an investigative committee, that dub would be disfellowshipped as an apostate.

Is there space for having different procedures in different in the world? "Yes" And is there any biblical impediment that would prevent a woman from being part of an investigation? "No"

So far, he seems to be a disciple of Moses or Paul, not a disciple of Jesus.

Does he have a scriptural reference for their private, secret, star chamber judicial proceedings with no women or men observing?
