Internet banned?

I know that this subject has been talked about many times, but I am convinced that if the WTS gets more fanatical, they will eventually ban Witnesses from going on the Internet. Yeah, I know it sounds goofy, but there are so many Witnesses who are leaving as a result of what they have found on the net that the WTS will have no choice, but to do it. They will probably find some "new light" and probably sight some bible scripture. They could also tell Witness kids not to use the net at school just like they are told not to celebrate Christmas and other holidays.

    Just my two cents.

Even if they tell the dubs not to go on internet, they will not listen. Internet is here to stay, and no matter what they say, they can't stop them from going on internet. The Watchtower has a big problem on their hands. Information is now circulating freely, and the truth is getting out, thanks to the internet.

Maybe they won't state in a magazine that it's not allowed, but did they ever state in a magazine that Smurfs are demonized? They don't *need* to.

I bet they'll have more and more stories about guarding against believing and spreading rumors, apostate lies, and how while the media is biased politically while they only follow Jehovah, blah blah blah.

Such an attempt by the WTBTS will be about as effective as the Catholic Ban on birth control.

For decades the WTBTS has made a practice of publicly despising the Catholic Church, and now it has become virtually indistinguishable from that church. Religion really is a "rare and a snacket" and the JWs even more so. They don't even bother hiding that face any more.

they may not ban the net it is tool upfront-

but in my view they will do what they have done that is time tested

they will demonize the net as they have been doing for years much like they did college, retirements ,reaching out for promotions on our jobs, etc

they merely create certain attitudes toward the net and anything they want jw to avoid

just the mere mention of INTERNET at a gathering already invokes thoughts of

YOU MUST BE LOOKING AT APOSTATES OR PORN SITES

THE avg jw in my exp and i leave in one of the most High Tech, Internet areas in the world

I live in washington, dc, we had a report that mentioned the avg home has 2.1 pc per household

i know we have 5 AND its just me and the wife- yet despite the fact that many have pcs including jw rarely does anyone mention they read so and so off the net-

the wt has created in the minds of jw never talk about the net and some are down right fearful

the most powerful bars and prisons are not made of steel and concrete, but those chains that are put on folks minds

If they did ban the net or convince JW's it's demonized, wouldn't they have to get rid of their web site?

The fact is that the internet is becoming more and more critical to the daily life of people. We think it takes our time now, imagine what it will be like 5 and 10 years from now.

We simply will not exist without it. There is no way for the WTS to ban it.

In the 50's when television was just starting, the WTS called it "the devil's eyeball." New technology, same tactic. Now the WTS advertises on TV.
