The Conventions of a number of the States having, at the time of adopting the

Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its

powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added, and as

extending the ground of public confidence in the Government will best insure the

beneficent ends of its institution; Resolved, by the Senate and House of Representatives of

the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two-thirds of both Houses

concurring, that the following articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several

States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States; all or any of which

articles, when ratified by three-fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents

and purposes as part of the said Constitution, namely:

    Amendment I

    Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

    Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

    Amendment VII

In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

Supposedly in an effort to make the world a safer place against "terrah," in many cases Bush has gotten quite good at stepping all over the rights of people, especially violating the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Amendments. With the proposed "Total Information Awareness" program it seems that Bush and the Republicans are just getting started.

    Better than what?

You think I should just jump in and talk the fool, to join in your little debate? No thanks. I prefer to watch and snag the stuff that makes sense, as I did. The rest doesnt fit into my definition of fact.

Animal, you've totally lost me now.

First of all, nobody should have their own definition of the word "fact."

All I've seen here is pro-Republican remarks without any FACTS to back them up. And as usual, nobody has anything to say to justify Bush's lack of concern with the environment. Zilch. They just accept it, just like Witnesses accept everything the Borg says. Snap out of it for Christ sake.

FACTS have been presented in order to show all that if ones concern is for our freedom, then they should NOT be supporting the Republican party, and still yet there hans't been any EVIDENCE shown to refute that.

What your comments have to do with any of this I'm still trying to figure out. What revelance your "bikers list" has is beyooooond me. Was that comment a threat, a joke, or what?

    Now I see....

Those that have been here for more than a week know that I founded and ran, until September, a national motorcycle group... Sons of Liberty Riders. We dont deal with right or wrong parties, we only deal with the constitution and our rights under it. We dont use destructive words like hate, or labels, or anything else that detracts from our cause. We also see where many lies, or mis-stated opinions, have lead to many mandates on Americans that not only cost money to us all, but limited our ability to enjoy liberty.

Never assume anything about me, or about what I type in here. I would never use the term "biker" as a threat to you, tho it may work in your world. I use the term "biker list" referring to our interactive email list which includes many of the leadership in bikers rights and the fight to maintain them.

I hope that was put simple enough for ya.

Ohhhh...okay. Please forgive me then...I've been here a little longer than a week, but I didn't know that about you.

All is understood now - thanks for the explanation! I'm laughing at myself now! hahahaa

    take care,

Seems you've come to the same conclusion I did, Jay.

I'll never again have totally blind loyalty to any group. People like Frank, TR, and Larc -- all avowed Republicans to the core -- loyally support a particular political party no matter what... regardless of what those of their chosen party actually does for or, more likely, *TO* them and the rest of us.

Me? I'm not "a Ford man no matter what" or "a Chevy man no matter what". Right now, I drive a GMC pickup because when the time came to get a new vehicle I wanted a truck. So, I researched and test drove them all, and picked the one I thought was best for me. Before that, I drove a Maxima, having gone through the same process I just mentioned. Who knows what my next vehicle will be. I'm not locked in to any of them.

As an ex-JW, I can't imagine being any other way. And, AND... I'd think that most other ex-JWs would be the same and have very little loyalty to any certain brand or any particular group no matter what. You'd think that people who've come through what we have would want to examine the facts, as best they could, and THEN come to a conclusion rather than going about it the other way around--first coming to a conclusion and THEN trying to make the facts fit their conclusion.

Sometimes I agree with the Democrats, sometimes with the Republicans. Sometimes I like GMCs and other times I like Nissans.

    But that's me.

To quote Michael Moore: "Democrats are just Republicans in cheap suits".

I am much more frightened of the Bush administration, it's tactics, and policies than I will ever be of the Democrats, who have lately been walking around like a bunch of neutered puppies.

I say screw em all! Vote Green!!!

And by the way Karl Marx and Friedfrich Engels masterpiece "The Communist Manifesto" is a one of the great works of philosophy in my opinion. However, as with any philosophy, humans are very good at manipulating and twisting it to suit their needs..kinda like the Bush administrations philosophy of democracy

Teejay, you are taking my name in vain, which is a mortal sin. I agree with the Repbulican philosophy, but do not always agree with the Republican party or with the actions of Bush. I am not as concerned about the long term effects on our environment as you are, but I am very concerned about our potential lose of freedoms under the guise of homeland security. As Aztec pointed out, the Communist Manifesto may be classical philosophy. Trouble is, communism has never worked except in very small groups or villages, such as the religious commune in Zoar, Ohio in the 1800's. It eventually died when the town got larger, and the kids wanted a taste of the outside world. Remember, that the majority of people are driven by greed. The Democratic party and the communist party appeal to greed by promising the folks a free lunch and even a free ride. The Rupulicans appeal to greed by telling you that if you work your ass off, you can make something of yourself. Teejay, have you ever listened to the Black Avenger (a successful black man who came from the Detroit getto) on talk radio?

Larc, that's awesome! I like when people question the leaders of their party instead of blindly following them. That would be reason number one on the why I am an independant list. I think everyone should research issues and then come to their own conclusion. I can't stand when people just accept what they are told. I guess this would also be reason number one on the why I left the witnesses list also...LOL
