    Howdy Ya'all:

Gotta get over this - I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown most days. Parent told me she is unable to speak with me anymore (3 months ago), sends Watchtowers to me & hub. Now she writes to say she is sending brothers on our behalf. Hub wants to blow up their car when they arrive - but I reminded him (since we live in a rural area) we'd be stuck with them at our place. Of course, the whole shunning thing is for smoking 27 years ago and I quit that about 14 years ago. I C how I can be a horrible influence. Anyway, the whole thing makes me want to vomit. I am trying to get better & I go to a meetup group monthly. I believe the point I'm at right now is I'm praying for me to stop wishing her dead.

I don't post - but I read ya'all comments & do enjoy the help I get from them - just knowing I'm not alone helps me alot. Still wish I had someone close by to talk to.

    Welcome to the forum,Moana.

Is there anybody on this board who lives nearby who can support U?

Perhaps u should arrange a(APOSTATE) welcoming committee for them sometime.

    Hello and welcome....

I can relate to some extent. I left (DA's) in the late 80's but back then the rule was you could associate with family but no "spiritual talk". Now since August I'm strictly shunned but they still seem to contact me when its convenient. I don't really have to worry about anyone calling on me to return me to the fold though...I've made it pretty clear that I'm not interested and to be honest, the elders don't want me back anyway. *LOL*

Not sure where you are...I'm in NH...East Coast USA....happy to offer whatever support/listening ear that I can offer.

This is all you have to do. You and your hubby get all grubby before they get there, black out your teeth...ruffle up your hair...both of you get your shot guns out and stand on the porch waiting for them. (A nice touch would be to have the theme song to the movie "Dilerverance" playing in the back ground)How i would love to be a fly on the wall!!

Don't forget the dogs. Big, slavering, mean-looking dogs. Alternatively, a herd of geese will prevent them from leaving the car.

I understand. My JW mom uses every opportunity she can come up with so send me literature, letters complete with bible quotes, and door knockers. She knows most definately that I am not interested but nothing I have tried has stopped these gestures.
Some of the other posters have made good suggestions. I will just wish you the best of luck.

Maybe you could ask some very direct questions that they have no answer to. Like "show me where it says in the Bible that heaven was closed in 1935." Tell them that your research uncovered that former Watchtower president seemed to be an abusive alcoholic (true by the way) and he said 1935 came to him when a "bright light flashed up." Tell them you now understand the possibility, better yet the promise of heaven. And then maybe show them the Bible verse that says there is ONE mediator between God and man, the ONE man, Jesus. Tell them the Watchtower takes the verse in Revelations about the 144,000 from a literal 144,000 to a figurative 12,000 per 12 tribes right in the same verse. Tell them the "great crowd" is described to be "before the throne" using exactly the same greek words that describe the "little flock." You want to go to heaven!!!

Tell them that the Watchtower uses the Bible to support their teachings and you see the need for your religion to use their teachings to support the Bible. You now know that by the Holy Spirit you can go STRAIGHT to our Father in heaven and no longer need to submit to a bunch of guys in New York claiming divine authority.

If none of that works, just buy Ray Franz's book or some other "apostate" literature and bring it out on their arrival. I understand they feel these types of works are "spiritual pornography" and will flee from them. Who knows, maybe they'll consider reading some of it with you and be saved as well.

I can't wish you luck because all good and perfect gifts are from above.

    hi moana

since you live in a rural area, you could post a "No Trespassing" sign at your driveway. then if they ignored the sign they would be breaking the law. you don't owe them anything. don't play by their rules.

i never answer my door to them, and on occasion they have looked in the window and saw us, and we just go about our business like nobody's there. it's your house, hon. your property, your rules.

good luck. we're all here for ya if you need support. please try to not let it upset you. i know it's hard. ((((moana))))

    Hi Moana;

I'm confused.....were you disfellowshipped? Or disassociated? If you gave up smoking 14 years ago, then why won't your mother associate with you? Did some "new light" come out in one of the mags again, saying you can't associate with relatives who are DA???

    Mary,

DA and DF are viewed the same (even though their Official page contradicts itself on the issue)...only the fade-aways seem to have found a "loophole" for the moment. I DA'd and I am shunned...in fact I am told that because I DA'd I am WORSE than a "wrongdoer" since I willingly turned my back on the Org.

And the August 2002 KM covered DF & DA'd relatives, not living in the same house, and Dubs were told the "quit mixing in company with them". Ssoooo...we're shunned again. *L*
