    Thanks nilfun.

Since leaving the WT I occasionally have mental visions of dying a terrible, violent death. Dan's my name, anxiety and pessimism's my game...

    Joanna:

Yes, their lives are sad. But I don't quite understand your point. Do you not think that the Al-Queda loons are barbarians? They are the very definition of the word.

My post really wasn't meant to condemn anybody. As a matter of fact, I believe that the fundie Islamic world may have legitimate grievances with us. About a year ago I saw a picture in the paper of two women wearing burkas. They were in Afghanistan or Pakistan or somewhere like that, and what was behind them? A huge Victoria's Secret ad plastered on the wall behind them. The picture made an obvious point. We export our culture to people who don't want it, and then wonder why they hate us.

We are all part of a meta organism called humanity. All of us have a part to play. Some of us got a good part, some of us got a bad part. Some of us got an unimaginably bad part. We all face the same eventuality. Life is full of happiness and pain in varying degrees. We all experience vibrant youth and aging decay; extreme happiness and extreme pain. We watch our parents and friends die, we watch our children embrace the joy of living. Humans love each other, hate each other, help each other, kill each other. The cycle repeats itself infinitely. This is what it means to be human.

Dan you do get my point. You made it for me in your last paragraph. I am in no way endorsing terrorism or what the Taliban and Al-Queidia stand for.

My point was only this: you took a giant group of people, not clearly defined (in your orginal post you said nothing about terrorists, just people who hate US) and labeled them as barbarians. Which is just as bad as saying "all Americans are socialist pigs who are lazy and selfish and only want to destroy islam"

I'm not trying to make a big deal, like I said...the whole US versus THEM mentality scares me especially when US and THEM are objective terms we blanket over people at random....just food for thought...

    Just remember this:

The US in the most technologically advanced country in the world. We have hundreds of thousands of highly trained killing machines (military) to protect us. The only country who could even give us any fight is China who's half way around the world. We have nearly every form of natural resource right here in our own country. Our most powerful ally is the second most powerful country in the world, Britain.

Unfortunately I think it's going to become a Islamic/Muslam vs. western world war. That would be a mess. I have 2 years left for the draft but I'll be dammed if I sit here on my ass after enjoying 30 years of that freedom countless thousands died for. War is nolonger meat shields and cannon fodder due to technology. I know it sounds callous but I say anyone who would want to push the "Kill all Westerners" button should not exist. Vaporize 'em.

The US can kick ass and sort the bodies later so don't worry. I have confidence. To live in fear and dispair is to not live at all. Life has wonderful things to offer if you seek them out.

Aye, I wish I had your confidence. The fundie muslim jihad world really scares the hell out of me.

I mentioned to someone in the chatroom that I was from Columbus Ohio, and they said that you're here too. Is that right?

Relax.... take it from a few of us who have been down the road a while... everything's going to be ok. When I was real young, the Cuban Missle Crises scared the beejeebers out of me. I thought the end of the world was coming...everyone rushed the grocery stores and there were empty shelves everywhere. People were building bomb shelters and once-a-month they would practice the air-raid sirens. We'll be ok... it's ok to get a little scared. God didn't create all the Wonderfullness of Life to have idiots blow it up. I know sometimes the boat tilts so far over it feels like it going to capsize, but it never will .... it will come around and right itself, so too will the current situation in the world. We're all in this together, and as Roosevelt said "We have nothing to fear but FEAR itself."
