And since so few Jdubs enjoyed going door to door...they thought lets stop doing it! This may be the first bit of democracy taking place in the Borg and it will not succeed. It is another symptom of the decline of the Watchtower.

What Bonsai said. It was always a gamble but the organization's heralding of JW org and lit carts has had the unintended consequence of taking even more wind out of the already flagging door-to-door work. I see a couple of older JWs every several months or so out and about door-knocking but never any younger ones - not for years.

Contrast that to the late 1960s and early to mid-1970s when carloads of us young born-ins would descend upon the territory and householders would sigh and declare, "You people were doing this street less than a month ago!" And, yes, here we were covering the same over-worked territory several times a year.

That simpky does not happen anymore - at least in New Zealand.

Well, a rep at WTHQ supposedly admitted to someone from here (who'd phoned in asking about the carts) that they were quietly moving away from door-to-door-type ministry (paraphrasing, but that's the gist).

There are hard numbers that demonstrate its ineffectiveness in this day and age; even the LDS has officially acknowledged that.

Interesting. I can't wait to see what JWdom is going to be like in five years.

Does anyone have any theories why our territory that's be reduced six or seven times over the last twenty years is not covered anymore? We use to cover our area in less than Six Months and now nobody really keeps track of how the preaching work by territory is going. Is the advent of the mobile-literature machine why we don't see a zealous preaching spirit? Why are Witnesses not zealous anymore, are they burned out, have they lost sight of the prize?

Instead of working the territories to death, "we worked them to life" so why does it take over three years to complete our territory when we have three times the JWs living here? The sluggish slave won't make Jehovah's faithful slave happy, what are we going to do to get people motivated to preach more?

Because the preaching work is over? It appears to be over now.
