    Try these...

My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool,
And I have to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin' you.
Drown myself in sorrow, and I look at what you've down.
But nothin' seems to change, the bad times stay the same

Night was dark, but the sky was blue,
Down the alley, the ice-wagon flew,
Heard a bump, and somebody screamed,
You should have heard just what I seen

We rolled across the high plains
    Deep into the mountains
    Felt so good to me
    Finally feelin' free

Who Do You Love? - probably best known nowadays by George Thorogood, but it was a mild hit in the sixties by Quicksilver Messenger Service. I want to say that it was written by a bluesman like Muddy Waters, but I can't recall for sure.

    Okay, what's/who's this one?

The lady, she asked me if I would be her man
You know that I told her, I'd do what I can
    To keep her looking pretty
    Buy her dresses that shine
While the rest of them dudes was making their bread
Buddy, beg your pardon, I was losing mine!

    Oldie but a goodie:

And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me
And then my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace til you come to me

Mississippi Queen, by??? WASP? Great cow-bell.

    How about this one:

    "I've thought of having children
But I've gone and changed my mind
It's hard enough to watch the news
Let alone, explain it to a child
To cast your eye 'cross nature
Over fields of rape and corn
    And tell him without flinching
Not to fear where he's been born

Then someone sat me down last night
    And I heard Caruso sing.."

Yeah, love that cowbell, Wuzzie. Six simple quarter note strokes and three-and-four count flams on the snare-bass-snare. I play that simple little pattern and musicians everywhere know what I'm kicking off.

The band was Mountain. Felix Pappalardi and Leslie West (later of West, Bruce & Laing, which also featured Jack Bruce, former bassist for Cream).
