I'm no expert, don't take my advice as authoritative but I would say that she does need to change her will.

Her religious position and affiliation, or otherwise, with the Society has no status in law. The will she made was between her, 'Mrs Xdub' and the 'WTBTS'.

Both of these parties still exist and so the will would still be valid - she should change it.

Why would she want to leave the will the way it is and take a chance of the WT taking anything?

    Change the will.

Well, Joyce still believes the "truth" is the truth.
She wants to know whether the organization would be willing to take her money now theyve booted her.
She feels it would be hypocritical of them to accept a Disfellowshipped persons money.

What do you think, brothers and sisters?
Would The org be that hypocritical??

Anyone know the organizations official position on this?

    Joyce:

You will need to change your will and I would specifically mention in the new will that not only does this new Will replace any before it state that you specifically do NOT want the WT Society to receive any benefit from your estate monetary or otherwise.

There is a reason the Society wanted you to send a copy of your Will to them, so when you die they can go after your estate for what they feel is rightfully theirs.

There was one case in Australia where the person was DF'ed and the Society took the family to court. They settled only giving 40% of the estate to the family.

This is definitely a situation where you would want a recognized attorney to prepare this document for you.

    CHARITABLE PLANNING

In addition to outright gifts of money and conditional donations of money, there are other methods of giving to benefit Kingdom service worldwide. These include:

Insurance: The Watch Tower Society may be named as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or in a retirement/pension plan.

Bank Accounts: Bank accounts, certificates of deposit, or individual retirement accounts may be placed in trust for or made payable on death to the Watch Tower Society, in accord with local bank requirements.

Stocks and Bonds: Stocks and bonds may be donated to the Watch Tower Society either as an outright gift or under an arrangement whereby income continues to be paid to the donor.

Real Estate: Salable real estate may be donated to the Watch Tower Society either by making an outright gift or by reserving a life estate to the donor, who can continue to live therein during his or her lifetime. One should contact the Society before deeding any real estate to the Society.

Wills and Trusts: Property or money may be bequeathed to the Watch Tower Society by means of a legally executed will, or the Society may be named as a beneficiary of a trust agreement. A trust benefiting a religious organization may provide certain tax advantages.
As the term “charitable planning” implies, these types of donations typically require some planning on the part of the donor. To assist individuals desiring to benefit the Society through some form of charitable planning, the Society has prepared an English-language brochure entitled Planned Giving to Benefit Kingdom Service Worldwide. The brochure was written in response to the many inquiries the Society has received regarding gifts, wills, and trusts. It also contains additional useful information on estate, financial, and tax planning. And it is designed to help individuals in the United States who are planning to make a special gift to the Society now or to leave a bequest at death to select the most advantageous and efficient method in the light of their family and personal circumstances. This brochure may be obtained by requesting a copy directly from the Charitable Planning Office.

After reading the brochure and conferring with the Charitable Planning Office, many have been able to assist the Society and at the same time, maximize the tax benefits of doing so. The Charitable Planning Office should be informed of and receive a copy of any relevant document pertaining to any of these arrangements. If you are interested in any of these charitable planning arrangements, you should contact the Charitable Planning Office, either in writing or by telephone, at the address listed below or at the Society’s office that serves your country.

    *** w92 1/15 17-18 Jehovah Loves Cheerful Givers ***

14 Since the incorporation of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society in 1884, contributors have had evidence that it is a trustworthy supervisor of all donations entrusted to it in behalf of Jehovah’s Kingdom work.
According to its charter, the Society strives to fill the greatest need of all the people, the need for spiritual things. This is done in the form of Bible literature and instruction on how to gain salvation.
Today, Jehovah is speeding up the gathering of sheeplike ones into his expanding organization, and his blessing on the wise use of donations in the Kingdom-preaching work is clear evidence of divine approval. (Isaiah 60:8, 22) We are confident that he will continue to move the hearts of cheerful givers.

15 The Society occasionally uses the columns of this journal to alert readers to their privilege of making voluntary donations to the worldwide Kingdom-preaching work.
This is not solicitation, but it is a reminder to all desiring to support “the holy work of the good news” as God prospers them. (Romans 15:16; 3 John 2) The Society uses all the money donated in the most economical way so as to make known Jehovah’s name and Kingdom.
All contributions are gratefully received, acknowledged, and used to spread the good news of God’s Kingdom. For example, by these means missionary activities are sustained in many countries, and printing facilities vital to the dispensing of Bible knowledge are maintained and expanded.
Further, contributions to the worldwide work are used to cover the mounting costs of producing Bibles and Bible-oriented publications as well as audiocassettes and videocassettes. In such ways Kingdom interests are advanced by cheerful givers.
