Just thinking, and speculating here. Who would have even immagined a TV channel as a change. What could top that?

Do you think that a Food Bank is possible? Jesus and the Apostles did have money set aside for the poor. How long do you think it will take the GB to figure that out? If, they did, how would it be implemented?

How does a food bank increase the prestige, power, or assets of the organization?

    Oh that's right, it doesn't.

Thus you will never see a WT-run food bank.

    No food bank Im thinking.

If Jehovah wants them fed he will feed them.

I think they are delusional enough to think the above about "their flock".

But I do have to hand it to you for original thinking QB. That was really an out of the box idea!

    What else you got?

IF the Governing Body ever thought of doing such a thing and that is a BIG IF.................you can bet your bottom dollar that they would only procure free food, that was out of date, from grocery stores and other retail outlets. They would never, ever spend money on such a project. Then after they distributed the food they would 'pat themselves on the back' and proclaim loudly to the four corners of the earth how generous and 'christlike' they are. UGH!!!!!

Food banks don't help pay multimillion dollar sexual abuse law suits, but your generous donations to the world wide work will be put to good use.

Even if they did food banks, they'd probably keep 'em locked up in the KH, and only JWs in "good standing" would be able to avail themselves.

Food band concept is simple. Publishers donate non perishables canned food, WT tower gives it out in exchange for a future donation. Unlikely to make them a fortune but it may earn enough members. The problem with that idea is that is more likely to attract people looking for food than it is to attract new members.

I live in one of the poorest areas of the US. Average household income is about 12k a year. Many religions have come in here and offered people (specially single mothers and undocumented inmigrants) free food, homes and loans. The math is simple. Someone can work really hard to earn credit worthiness and pay a bank 14 to 18% interest on a short term loan or loose their assets or, a religion can come and offer the loan to you for free (in some cases no need to repay) and then God guilt you into giving 10% of your income for the rest of your life. What pays better?

What? did you really think that WTBTS had invented something new with this new donation arrangement?

We had several pioneers in our congo tell us the story of new interested people, who wanted to start a study. After several weeks of earning the trust of the pioneer, they asked if the church offered loans to people. When the pioneer said no, the person asked to discontinue the study. True story.
