Because they say something like "So and So is no longer one of JW's" They are automatically lumping you in with adulterers, pedophiles, drunks and drug users to name a few. It is a form of slander hence you need an open meeting that includes some eye witnesses plus a recording. If you are voluntarily leaving which is your constitutional right to do so and if you are slandered as mentioned above you will sue each and every one who allowed this form of slander to go forward.
