I think it's interesting and worthwhile as a social and intellectual experiment to visit some other churches as a part of your post-JW experience. On the positive side, religion can offer benefits in terms of satisfying our natural desire for community/family and belongingness. Or you could consider it just another form of fantasy and escapism similar to joining your local science fiction club or war gaming club.

Weddings and funerals have got me inside various denominations. I also visited every church in Grande Cache, noting my experience on a Mystery Worshipper form.

My experience ranges from Wicca through Clappy Happy Evangelical, United Church, Unitarian, Anglican, Episcopalian, Lutheran, and Catholic. I like a lively service with a cool pastor. I prefer the decorations in the older denominations. More to look at. Responsive readings are neato.
