You can set an avatar using http://en.gravatar.com/ (let me know so I can clear the cache) but they don't support animated gifs

The old photo (to the left) was taken 10 years ago. I was 57.

The new one (below) was taken recently. I'm 67 now.

Don't worry ... I'd go back to the WTS before I let animated avatars show up, LOL

I'm actually planning on having animated gifs optional - people can post them and chose to see them but anyone who doesn't like them will see a 'play' button like a video. They hurt the viewing experience (and battery!) on mobile devices.
