Why the hell not, eh? Do you want atheists to stand outside the group, disapproving of all that celebration and cheer, because of some idea you have about what an atheist is? Oh, wait a minute, it's JWs who stand outside the group disapproving.

Also, Terry, some of us atheists actually have fun at christmas -- no need to fake it. One of the advantages of being an unbeliever is that I can choose which bits of holidays I like, and ignore the rest. So I do the fun bits, like baking goodies and giving little surprise presents to the neighbors, that sort of thing, while ignoring the commercialism and the religious aspects of christmas.

Even when we were practising JW's we always reckoned to have an enjoyable time at Christmas. Family and friends are not working, so a good slap-up meal wth plenty of wine and beer was always the order of the day, a day when you couldn't do much else anyway.

Not much different now really. The non-JW members of our fast expanding family all tend to come to Phizzy Mansion on that day, but I suppose as we don't bother much with prezzies etc we are no more celebrating Christmas than when we were JW's.

We now go to Haloween parties, something we would not have done before, we do not believe in Witchcraft and Werewolves etc, but should that stop us celebrating Haloween ?
