So this has been passed by the complete legislature and signed by the governor?

Could you point to the parts where religious nonprofits will have to file a detailed financial report open to the public?

@blondie: States can have laws that expand on federal laws as long as they are not deemed to be violating either their own or the federal constitution. So if the Federal Govt says you don't have to file and NYS says you do, you will have to file with NYS but not with the Federal Govt. The states can even supercede federal laws if the federal law is non-constitutional (Supremacy Clause and Nullification) although Nullification is not recognized by the Federal Supreme Court.

I think yes even religious charities must get audited:

A number of our kehillot have asked whether the new Act applies to religious corporations, since
they are exempt from filing annual audits and fund-raising reports with the Attorney General’s
Charities Bureau. The short answer is, yes; the Act applies to religious corporations. Some
examples of its application (not intended as an exhaustive list) are:
 “Type B” corporations organized as for religious purposes under the NFPCL are
now categorized as “charitable” corporations and governed by the NFPCL
requirements and standards for such organizations.
 RCL 208, governing “consolidation” of Jewish religious corporations is clarified to
include “mergers.” (In and of itself, this particular change is immaterial as we have
long regarded “consolidation” as including “mergers.” But its inclusion in the Act,
as well as provisions regarding churches, makes it clear that the Act applies to
    religious corporations.)
 The procedure for obtaining approval for the sale, mortgage, lease or other
disposition of real property has been revised to permit transactions upon the
approval in most circumstances of only the Attorney General, without the necessity
    of Court approva

religious, scientific, literary, cultural or for the prevention of cruelty to
    children or animals)
    • Non-charitable – formed for any other purpose
 Most changes apply to both charities and non-charities

I wonder if the WT will try to change it's 'headquarters' to another state to avoid this disclosure.

I think the Watchtower's trans-national corporate nature and it's refined techniques make it very difficult to actually track their global assets, and if they are liquidating a billion in the US in recent years, imagine their international and alternative investment holdings. The place may well be in the 4 billion dollar range, and given global JW slave labor we are talking lucrative capital development comparable to China's model. That it is funded by the slaves of course that puts the whole racket into it's own category of investment and profiteering excellence. That NONE of it came from the Bethel elites, but from Charles Russell, is the golden cherry on top.

Who knows how much they are milking out now in the intensified JW milking operation, while IN REALITY the org contracts, selling a 2% JW growth rate to JWs as an excuse for this kind of JW panhandling. They should be giving a congregational rebate, instead the congregations physical properties are now in jeopardy as well, with the rest of the physical contraption they can sacrifice to make it all look real "attack on Babylon the Great"-like.

In the meantime the inner cabal will walk out with probably a couple billion in cold gold, imo, from the getgo of the coup final stage.
