Sofia Lose, what hardtobeme is mentioning is the type of thing that subtly messes your mind up. JW's live in a impossible world of the idea of sexual purity that just can't and doesn't really exist. Witness think the world is sex obsessed, in one regard they are as that is what people want and it sells as they say, beyond that, witnesses are WAYYY more obsessed "don't look at this, "don't touch that", "don't think about that" "get married or no sex for you" They talk about it at the meeting to no end! Pornography is mentioned in every part, or homosexuality, or adultery. They ARE obsessed.

And marriage is another institution like religion, its f%$@ed up, and by that I am not saying that monogamy is = to marriage, you can have one without the other, but it exists as a system of consequences and control. Their overall attitude towards sex stunts people. You cannot really know yourself waiting, then marrying someone you've never screwed, especially when you are so young, you don't know what's going on yet.

I've heard that prayer thing before sex,

That might be one of the example of when a guy finds out that sometimes his prayer is answered. Sometimes not.

As a Witness, I began dating a very marriageable man, but was cautioned by elders to remain chaste and pure - which I followed scrupulously as we continued to date.

My sensitively-inclined boyfriend even suggested we always needed to have a chaperone present and, no, soft toys did not constitute chaperones.

To cut a long story short, he proposed, I accepted, we married, honey-mooned in Brisbane (during the floods) - and it was only then that the elders disfellowshipped me. I was stunned, as was my husband. The injustice and unkindness of it all.

I'm now left thinking the chaperones were a complete waste of time ...but I wouldn't trade the state of marital bliss for anything. Such is the life and thinking of a moral degenerate.

I remember hearing about the prayer before the couple's first time - little bit odd.

Sexual attraction, desires and romantic feelings are completely natural, yet the WTS manages to guilt people about these matters.

I've read here on this forum how strict they were in the 70s re sex - absolutely appalling.

I'm not sure how strict they've been lately.

IMO, what's worse is their strict line on masturbation. Nearly all teenage boys go through a period of masturbating. All that guilt that's piled on top of them for doing what's essentially a harmless act. Masturbation isn't even condemned or called a sin in the bible!

It's a great shame that the WTS manages to micromanage the lives of 7 million trusting people.

The masturbating ban goes back to the days of ancient Israel, when population growth was the obsession. Any man spilling his seed on the ground was punished. Seed should be used to make babies. One would think that with the arrival of Jesus and the Law being replaced, especially as concerns Gentiles, masturbation would be a personal matter. Actually I think birth control should probably be considered as possibly altering the morality of sex, since most of the rules were set up to protect the family unit, so kids would have parents etc. if reliable birth control existed in the time of Moses, would the rules be quite so restrictive? It's something to consider.

Praying before sex is the closest a JW couple will come to a threesome without getting disfellowshipped.

I do wonder, though, what a prayerful topic would be? And, to the believers, the notion of Jehovah God being prayerfully present in the marital bedroom has the potential to impede normal sexual functioning - or, conversely, for those with exhibitionist inclinations, His presence could be perceived as a positive spur to the proceedings.

Whstever the case, the words, "Oh Jehovah, dear Heavenly Father, please watch over us!" suddenly takes on a whole new and disturbing meaning.
