    HERE IS YOUR MAP:

    **

    **

    1. I suspect the TRUTH isn't what I thought it was.

    2. OMG--I realize I've been lied to and duped.

    3. What should I do?--I don't want to lose my wife, kids, family, friends, dog, pet hamster . . .

    4. What if Jehovah's Witnesses really do have the true religion and it's simple human error screwing it up?

    5. I don't know if I believe the Bible is the word of God any longer.

    6. I don't know if I believe in God any more.

    7. I'm going to mess with JW's and other Christians and wake them up!

The final section of the map is a prediction of where you'll end up eventually.

I'll use a little story to illustrate it.

    **

Inside every person there are two dogs.

    **
One dog is sweet, kind, loyal and loving and will be there for you always.

    **

The other dog is always whining or barking, peeing on everything or biting.
    Which dog wins?
    ....
    ....
    ....
    ....
    The answer is:
    THE ONE YOU FEED!

Hi Terry, I'm at No. 6 right now and feeling very happy & content.

I feed the dog that is sweet, kind, loyal and loving dog who is always there for me.

Harbouring bitterness and resentment is self-defeating.

5 + ; -- I am SURE the bible is not the inerrant word of god anymore, never was, and of course there is

the other 'word of god' , logos, too,

    that falls in that category.

Oops. I'm at "9". But then, I'm demonized, or so they said.

I'm at 6.5 right now. I KNOW I don't believe in gods or goddesses anymore, but I don't mess with JWs or other Christians and try to wake them up

    A sidebar here . . .

When I write, I like to sit just outside Starbucks at a table. I ride my back about 12 miles round trip.

About twice a week these two Christian guys sit at a table next to me.

The "mature" evangelical is always lecturing the "immature" guy.

Well, the other day the conversation turns to the KING JAMES ONLY topic.

FYI there are certain conservative evangelicals who say the only acceptable version is the KJV.

In the course of their argument, the older guy turns to me--I guess because I'm an old coot and probably more likely to agree with him.

He says--"Say, can I ask you a question?"

I give my usual answer, "That IS a question, isn't it?"

He laughs. "Right--are you familiar with the King James bible?

I say, "Sure, I grew up with that Bible in our house. My mom and grandmother use to sit me in their lap and read to me."

    His eyes brighten a bit.

"Don't you agree it's the most accurate Bible there is?"

I blink coyly and flutter my eyelashes.

"Well, I'll tell you, its the only translation I know of that has unicorns and 4-legged insects in it."

He stares for a few seconds. (Long seconds.)

Then, he just turns back to the fellow he's with and ignores me.

    I say, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

And I will never be to number 7. I don't like the idea of messing with people, and 99% of the time, coercing someone to leave the JWs does not work. They have to be ready to leave on their own and they have to use their own two feet to do it. Everybody is free to believe what they want to believe, and I have no problem telling somebody I disagree with their belief, but trying to make me sound "right" and them sound "wrong" never works.

    I got to number 3 but no. 4 doesn't really apply. I'm 50/50 on number 5. And no to 6 and 7.

I've definitely gone through 1 and 2 but now I feel content with where I am. It's my life, my beliefs (or non beliefs) and I'm free to believe what I want and do what I want as long as it doesn't hurt those closest to me. This for me is where the problem lies.
