I should add that my reporting having a good JW upbringing in no way invalidates those whose JW upbringings were problematic and even traumatic. I was sensitive enough even as a child with loving Witness parents to observe the unfeeling way some children in my congregation were treated by their JW parents. Even my parents were disgusted with some of the harsh parenting styles of local Witnesses. But it would be unfair to characterize all JW parents as such.
