    Do you remember when we had a challenging question about something as JWs? We would look up the Index and find some old Q from readers that waffled incomprehensively about the subject and be satisfied that we had an answer. We didn't really want the facts we just wanted something to calm our doubts. That was confirmation bias in action.

    So true. If you would have said that to me then, I would probably have gotten angry and argued with you, denying it.

    Now you just made me laugh at how silly WT "research" is.

    It takes courage, discipline, perseverance and hard work to find real answers. And even then, sometimes all you find is the search. But in the search, you can find yourself.

    Intellectual honesty is the biggest challenge.

    excellent video. one of the more frustrating commonly-held view on scientists is that they haven't considered there may be something very fundamental wrong with their entire field that only an outsider with some common-sense knowledge can see. Nobody would use a dentist or construction worker who had that mindset, but if you got a phd in climatology or high-energy physics well...
