Xanthippe
New hope LOL I know what you mean. Actually two people did that thinking back. When I went into my nearest town an elder who used to be my husband's pioneer partner years before, did the same thing to me. Crazy people.
Funny story about that elder. He never liked me. One day I realised he was following me around the KH listening to my conversations. He was always trying to get something on me. I was at the literature desk trying to get a new publication and when I had finished I stepped back and trod straight on this elder's foot in my stilleto heels. Well he started hopping around holding his foot in agony. Wow what a great moment that was! That man was a complete sh*t.

If xanthippe had reacted violently the elder would have claimed persecution and used it as an example of demonic apostates forevermore. He'd have probably got a convention part out of it.

Lalika...a violent reaction can simply be looking someone in the eye. It can sometimes make them see themselfs....

It's funny, when I was "in" i never saw this kind of behaviour. Never even occurred to me. Now I'm faded out it's all too true. Even when they do stop to chat it seems it's with an ulterior motive. A brother I was pretty good friends with stopped me in the high street a few weeks ago and made small talk then got to "the point": that he had recently been made an elder and at the last elders meeting they had discussed me and that they wanted to come around to see how I was. When would I be available? I said I was busy and would let him know. He kind of laboured the issue but when he realised I wasn't going to commit to a date, he pretty much ended the conversation. Likewise a very sweet sister I bumped into the other day was all friendly and smiley but the gist of the very very brief conversation was how much "they" missed me and "please come back". Admittedly I wasn't bosum buddies with her but, really? that's all there is to say?!
I hear you Blackbird - totally bizarre!

Krejames..... your post was a lovely reminder that, this behsviour is repeated in all congregations in all countries....WORLDWIDE. Anyway, the way i look at it is if i get shunned, and if it hurts me...well i still got this place and people like you to share it with.

Bumped into a pioneer who I had known for 35 yrs.
She pointed her finger at me as she circled around
me in the store, sniggering all the while ...
omg all I could do, was stand there with my mouth
dropped open at her stupidity!!!
*
She has pioneered much of her life, never married or
had children or her own home! Wears the same plain
boyish clothes she wore in her 20's.
I really fear for her if she ever sees the real truth
& what she has missed!
