    Genesis 11:3-4

They now said: "Come on! Let us build ourselves a city and also a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a celebrated name for ourselves, for fear we may be scattered over all the surface of the earth."

Do you see any celebrated names connected to this baptism?

    That reach up to heaven.

Knowing this, then how could a celebrated name be made?

    How about this:

    w85 6/1 p. 30 Subjecting Ourselves to Jehovah by Dedication ***

At the close of the convention baptism talk, the baptism candidates will be in position to answer with depth of understanding and heartfelt appreciation two simple questions that serve to confirm that they recognize the implications of following Christ’s example.

    The first question is:

the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?

    The second is:

you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization?

Do you see any celebrated names that have been made in the above?

    Names that are publicly declared?

    Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold fast the public declaration of our hope

    God’s spirit-directed organization?

    A celebrated name!

So exactly what is God's Spirit Directed Organization?

    God's Spirit Directed Organization

    God’s spirit-directed organization?

But hey, isn't the wild beast something orchestrated by Satan?

and this name is venerated while being publicly declared during a newly invented baptismal ceremony?

Has Satan been successful in getting the people of Jesus Christs kingdom (Christians) to venerate a very different celebrated name?

and done this in such a way that he can get Christians to make a vow that enters the actual holy place in heaven itself to taunt Jehovah right to his very face!

    Isn't that a disgusting thing!

    an abomination!

    an appalling sacriledge!

    Entering the holy place!

    In heaven!

    Matthew 24:15-16

"Therefore, when YOU catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) 16 then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains.

There are people out of every nation and language being convinced to venerate this celebrated name!

A name that reaches right up to heaven and taunts Jehovah to his very face!

    Revelation 18:4-5

And I heard another voice out of heaven say: "Get out of her, my people,if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.

are there still people on this forum wondering if they should disassociate?

Its interesting in Genesis 11:6 that was mentioned above as well as the story about Eve gaining wisdom from the tree, it makes one wonder if the god of the bible was more concerned about people gaining wisdom and him stopping it more than anything else.

Think God was more concerned about knowledge than wisdom.

The proverbs were written to help someone gain wisdom.

I think knowledge is something different.

There are people who know how to build an atomic bomb but wise enough not to.

    Hey CrazyGuy,

From what I have read the Sumerians were around long before the folks from Akkad arrived on the scene (2340). Please check writings of Thorkild Jacobsen for more details. But, I get your point. It seems to me that Tower of babel account does not need to follow flood account chronologically. It just appeared there for some reason. Of course it is all made up, but that is besides the point.

The Cathedral has a stained glass window, depicting Nimrod. I freaked out when I first heard it on a tour. The guide said there was nothing wrong with Nimrod. I was only out a short time. When I arrived home, I looked up the account in the Bible. The Witnesses do expand on topics beyond what the text states.

I thought of The Tower of Babel on September 11th. It seemed eerie. Next, I wondered what anyone would be doing downtown to deserve the crash and collapse. I could think of nothing. The World Trade Center - did it tempt God?

I wanted to take linguistics but decided not to. When I read wikipedia accounts of languages travelling around the earth, it amazes me how they can trace ancient languages back. We came out of India. wikipedia and scholars also discuss religious migrations.
