How exactly is the Holy Spirit 'directing' the WT?

It seems pretty impotent to me if it is.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that they are merely 'spirit-directed', as opposed to 'inspired'. And let's assume that there is even a difference(other than semantics) to begin with. Neither claim is validated by the end result. Not when, under the direction of Holy Spirit, the words they print are subject to human error, and the constant need for correction(or new light). And not when, under the direction of Holy Spirit, corruptible men can be appointed to positions of authority, and often removed shortly after. So what, exactly, is the Holy Spirit doing for them? It's nothing more than a hollow claim, made for the sole purpose of garnering blind obedience from the flock.

    Fuck if I know.

"Jehovah does not communicate directly with anyone today."

It was easy to see that Holy Spirit was not directing them. The Holy Spirit would have to be a stooge. How do you prove it to them?

Frankly, my Roman Catholic neighborhood with JW family notions of the Holy Spirit were not clear to me. I adopted the Catholic notion b/c I rarely heard about the Holy Spirit from Witness sources. After studying Acts in a normal church, I just cannot grasp the Witness conception. Did the Holy Spirit direct the cross and crown, the pyramid worship, the different dates for Armageddon, the child abuse, Beth Sarim, the Bethel Christmas tree?

They are flying by the seat of their pants.

before an elder is appointed why do they ask him if he has ever been a child molester? Holy Spirit should have prevented him from ever getting to that point in his "spiritual career"

It makes their guess-work more "correct" than all other religions. So the GB guesses about what Jesus meant about a generation. Or they guess that brother is reaching out and more spiritual if he has X amount of hours. They guess that Brother Touc n'stuff won't do it again because he seems to have Jehovah's blessing on his life. How so? He is doing the stuff that we guess he should be doing. So anything they decide could be wrong and changed at any time. The main thing to take away is that God allows them to guess better than anyone else. Even their terrible guesses, like banning organ transplants, have a unifying effect, thereby proving that God use them.

They are schizophrenic. They are inspired by the Holy Spirit when they want the r&f not to question what they publish but they are imperfect humans when their errors become too obvious. Classic case of having your cake and eating it.

Maybe it is, just not the way they think it is.

If someone was speaking in your name and you couldn't stop them directly what would you do? And if you could direct what they were saying so that it made them look stupid what would you do?

The WTS. uses this to create a fictional working environment, where they can say if after something fails as in doctrines ,

they can pull the " We are just imperfect men clause out their hat as a means to keep the support ".

They did this recently when they announced that the organization has made inappropriate mistakes in proclaiming

the end of this system of things, in the past.

    .

The once WTS. president J. Rutherford in 1919 proclaimed that god had chosen his organization, which he had absolute control

over, among all other Christian based faiths and the WTS. carried on with this proclamation continuously.

Yet the WTS for the past 100 years has created more false doctrines than any other Christians based faith,

due to its core operation as a publishing house.

    .

All religions are an agree to set of lies, its just a matter if you can perceive what those those created lies are.

Certain religions like the WTS/JWs have established their inherent lies through expressed commercial agendas.

This one is the squishy mystery for Jehovah's Witnesses.

Most faithful JW's see the 'anointed' and in particular the Governing Body as angels in human form. They were chosen by God and are being 'used' by Holy Spirit.

We earthlings can't understand how God chooses and anoints (with Holy Spirit) these people. We can't understand how God uses his Holy Spirit to direct them what to write or what rules/policies to create.

It's a mystery. Just accept it.

"And now, brothers, please pass the contribution box around."

The usual explanation, if you press them on this issue, is that they are guided by reading the inspired scriptures.

Of course this means that they are as guided as anybody else who reads the scriptures as well, and this is why they hate breaking down this issue too much. They much rather have this wrapped in a thin veil of mistery and fuzzy logic, and to be fair, they have done a very good job at it. Most JWs still think they are inspired or something very close to it, despite the fact that they admit they are not.

When i was an active witness, i had this idea that when the GB met, it was a mystical event where angels or some other spiritual force would join the meeting and tell them what to do. This admiration of something they don't quite understand or know, is essential to keeping active JWs hooked. In a recent discussing with my older sister, she admitted that the reason why she believes the GB, is because they are inspired. Imagine that! The very reason why she is willing to obey them is invalid and openly admitted by them. Misinformation is only helpful for the Watchtower.
