There is tension between Free Speech guarantees and the concept of hate speech. The Const'n will win. This is a popular topic for law review articles and const'l law classes.

When you add Free Speech to Freedom of Religion, I don't see any court finding that the WT is guilty of hate speech. It might be different in Europe. You can't use what you define as hate speech. There must be a specific jurisdiction and a particular wording-and legislative history. Their speech does not bother me. Regulation of religious speech is unAmerican. The Bible has strong langauge.

I understand that people see a term used and believe it has a different meaning. Legal terms often have definitions that are different from the meaning in common use.

Hate speech might work in a civil rights context. I don't like it. Nazis and the Klan should have free speech rights. The ACLU has repeatedly won court victories for the Nazis and Klan.

It's not just hate speech. It is the way they treat outsiders. These are treated solely as objects of contempt, to be brought into the organization. Those who refuse to join are treated as "urine", "poison". They are taught not to mix with the world--and using these terms is merely a way to instruct people how they are to feel toward such outsiders. And if they were once jokehovians and leave the organization or break a rule, they are treated as if they were dead. Many have their livelihood cut off. If you work for jokehovians or have one for a landlord, have fun trying to stay there if you get disfellowshipped.

They even use the religion to bust up families. And, if you have children, you get disfellowshipped or disassociated, and get a divorce, try gaining rights with those children. Usually the courts are tricked by the religion to give such children to those still in the cancer. After which you get zero rights. They are instructed to treat you like rubbish if you are not in. To me, this is worse than the hate speech--this is probably the one time they back up their speech with action. And one time they would be better off not to. It is as bad with inheritance--if you are disfellowshipped and your parents are in, have fun trying to get anything. More likely, it will go to faithful witless siblings or the Worldwide Damnation Fund instead.

Why Jehovah's Witnesses qualify as a Hate Group

Because they exploit their freedom of religious expression to create hate and prejudice against other religious beliefs

and toward people who want to leave their faith to go to another belief system, calling down these ones mentally diseased.

In doing so the break the law governing over ones own individual freedom of religious self expression or choice.

Heavensgate makes a good point about our using derogatory labels. It does np good to call people names, no matter your position in the argument.

I get where heavensgote is coming from.....but ya gotta admit, if there is hate, we learned it from the masters of propaganda.....although to be fair some of the terms used here are not hate, rather they are used in an ironic sense. That makes aaalllll the difference.

Heavensg...question for you my friend.......Why not start your own thread? That way you can make a point and defend it rather than dipping in in the middle. You might enjoy it
