Recently, a Public speaker brought up this point that I remembered being preached in the 70's. When they bring this matter up, they always manage to give you an experience of how one person stood his ground, and got a great job offer, as a result.

What about the many experiences of ones that were not blessed? I can memtion horror stories of ones that should have kept working their meetings.

My grandfather heeded this sound advice many decades ago while raising 8 children. He had a very well paying job with a utilities company. The only "problem" was that it was a second shift position. *gasp*

So in order to prove his spirituality and faithfulness to Jehovah, he gave it up. That timeless piece of counsel is the gift that just keeps giving in WT land.

eta: The irony of that sage advice is that Bethel has 2nd and 3rd shift work just like worldly companies.

My ex switched jobs then got laid off. We ended up with no health insurance. This began the end of our marriage and dashed our little family to pieces. We ended up in bankruptcy and a good bit of it was medical bills. Night mare of epic proportions. And it hasn't ended all of these years later. My grown children are still completely miserable and struggling. In every way, this cult wrecked our lives.

It's so easy for the watchtower and CO and DO to tell everyone to quit their job in order to make meetings.

Everything is taken care for them by JW's contributions. We bought into it.

Of course , one could become spiritual weak by missing the lies, ignorance and corruption offered at the Kingdom Halls.

Vital information is given at every meeting that could save your life ........so says the Watchtower Publishing company.

    Good point SSPO

The WTS heads have got their medical health insurance provided by the WTS. as well every

other thing they need right up until they die ..... including a burial plot.

In essence the WTS. is their retirement fund.

    .

That being so is it any wonder the WTS. heads (GB) tell half truths and lies to keep the WTS. pumping. ???

Easy for someone to say when they go in service and give talks for a living.

These experiences are always given with the suggestion that the wonderful outcome is a divine blessing for the person making a spritual stand. The friends all shake their heads in agreement as if it were so. It's beyond irresponsible that they should suggest that a bread winner should leave a job to attend an assembly, pioneer......or anything else. The worst thing is they do it all the time with absolute impunity.

We had good friends in our cong. The dad was an elder, the real life fred flinstone. He had to work 7 days a week for months. He had many years built up with Goodyear that he was not interested in throwing away. What did he do? He stepped down. He was a nice guy.

There are JWs who are working part-time at age 83 years old at a fuel station, he is a die hard JW and believe's "The End is Neigh!".

We had a JW Contractor (age 74) fall off a roof and die, he had no money and his elderly wife ended up addicted to Valium, Xanax and Norco!

JW Elderly Couple were getting California's Welfare plus the Fed's $906 per month, she was a Greeter at Walmart and he was trying to sell odd items (Amway and Herbalife) part-time, so the Watchtower has created a class below Poverty, they ought to be proud of their contributions to make this world a Living Hell for their elderly and infirm!
