  I knew him since he was a baby, I remember when he was born. Sad fact is he was a spoiled brat and never disciplined for anything. His father was a very nice elder but it seemed to me the wife ran the show at home and they made every effort to appear to be the perfect JW's. His mother is Ariel castro's sister. I heard a few years ago that he was strung out on drugs and not doing well at all. I heard that his mother is now raising his kid because of the drugs. That's really a sad fact because she did really well with this one.

  No I never met Ariel Castro I only knew Ariel Castro's sister growing up. This is her son, and no he is not a JW now but he was a born in. I went to the same hall as his parents before he was born and I knew him as a baby and all the way up until he was a tween.

  The Jehovah's Witness Parents should feel great pride, the parents strangled the child's options (College, School, The End is Neigh) and now will deal with the unrealistic World-View their child now has. Drugs are for people who can't handle the emotional pain or some other brain malfunction. We all know on JWn that JWs are the worst at battling drug addiction, because they think the Elders can help and that's the last thing many of the Elders are wanting to do. These guys can't figure out who is in the Group even after two years of having a list, they actually don't care!

  I think we are going to see a greater flux of Witnesses young adults 23-34 battle more depression and anxiety because their parents tried the parental "pump and dump" style instead of trying to educate and make their kids a net-positive citizen. The time you spend at Meetings can be better spent with sports, programs, anything but the fear mongering cult dogma!

  Yes NeverKnew that is the father of this kid. He is also an elder or at least was an elder in my old hall before I DA ed 15 years ago. I really feel sorry for the parents Juan and Marisol Alicea. John, as he was called in our english hall, was always the first elder to say hi to you and always concerened about how you were doing.

  As this Ariel Castro story has unfolded over the past year, it keeps getting crazier. We already knew that the mom was a jw, as was the sister Marisol and her husband Juan Alicea. There has been nothing yet to suggest that Castro was ever directly involved with JWs, but who knows what may come out of this insane family? Now we find out that the JW-raised nephew is a pervert too. Sick!

  They are NOT an insane family. People make choices. Some in this family, as in all families, made socially unacceptable choices and are reaping the consequences.

  Would you want someone talking about your family the way you are talking about this one? Every family has problems; sometimes they are very visible.

  I would never say they are an insane family. You can't blame anyone in the family for the actions of Castro. He alone was the one who did those horriable things to Amanda, Gina, and Michelle. His sister and his nephew never showed any signs of anything like that.

  I actually feel really bad for John because like I said before he was always the first to ask how someone was doing. He was a very sweet man and I to this day respect him for the way he always treated people in our hall. I could tell he was one of those who wasn't an elder for the power or position, he was an elder because he really cared for the people in his hall.

  I would say that the only problem I ever saw in this family was that the son was pretty much allowed to run the show. He was spoiled and indulged and never disiplined for anything. I do remember that whenever he would get caught doing something it was never his fault. He was his mothers perfect angel. I am sure that his parent lost that illusion years ago when he left the JW's and started doing drugs.

  It was pretty sad when I heared that the kid was on drugs because he was the next Bethalite if you asked his mom. There were times that I felt sorry for the kid because his mom seemed to push him at times to make going to Bethal his goal. She was a long time pioneer and his dad was a long time popular elder so really his life was pretty much set up for him the second he was born.
