    Summary:

When did humans really begin to control fire and use it for their daily needs? Scientists discovered in the Qesem Cave, an archaeological site near present-day Rosh Ha'ayin, the earliest evidence -- dating to around 300,000 years ago -- of unequivocal repeated fire building over a continuous period. These findings help answer the question and hint that those prehistoric humans already had a highly advanced social structure and intellectual capacity.

    My thoughts...

A early modern human that could build a fire and used it to cook, is not an animal... That is the mark of intelligence. In addition the stone tools found by it indicate this as well.

Did they worship "Jehovah"? Did HE use certain Neanderthals as his "mouthpiece" on earth? Did they wear tight animal skin pants? Did they bleed that meat properly before eating it? How did they eat meat, since prior to sin people only ate veggies?

How do you read this and just forget about it?

Learning to cook food was a huge step towards elevating our ancestors.

    Tight animal skin pants haha

None of those questions matter to a JW or any creationist for that matter. Unfortunately, evidence and fascinating facts are meaningless to someone who would rather bury his head in the sand. The JW would immediately call to question the dating methods, claiming it was just an early indigenous people maybe a couple thousand years ago. Anything to rationalize it and make the cog dis go away.

    Thanks for the good info!

I find this interesting and puzzling. Does it mean that humans have not evolved in the last 300,000 years?

    .

    Yes.

    .

"Og" was "god's sole channel of communication" to the Neanderthals. Og's campfire was "New Light" and what he said was the law. If you didn't agree with it, Og would DF you.....the tribe has spoken. "Og" became known as the bOrG.

Honestly they WANT it to be true....in fact the topic of evolution bores and scares them because to them (me at times) its not nearly as attractive or cool as what heaven or the "new system" will be like. Imagination outweighs reality because theyve learned to be cynical toward The physical world.

Repeated fire building? did not Prometheus give it to humans once and for all, always burning, like the olympic flame?

How do you read this and just forget about it?

From a JW perspective you mean?

    Something like this:

On occasion in the past, scientists have been wrong.

The Bible has never been wrong.

Therefore, it is legitimate to doubt any scientific statement, particularly when it conflicts with the Bible.

The Bible says the first human walked the earth 6039 years ago.

Thus, the scientists who talk about humans building fires 300,000 years ago are clearly mistaken. In fact, they probably just made that information up because they do not want to be accountable to Jehovah for their immoral lifestyle.

    See how easy that is?

I often wondered, how to hard-core JWs explain the existence of Neanderthals??? Do they just bury their heads in the sand and claim that Neanderthals didn't exist, or that they were just early humans?? Do they dismiss the DNA evidence?
