It would seem that we were programed to see things one way, it takes an effort to changed this ingrained set of thought. It's like taking a computer eprom (computer chip) and changing the language-set of rules-- to another..this can be done if all remaining Programing is removed... are our minds the same? We have the ability to remember everything...These bleed through...

Few of us grow up learning investigative skills, logical problem solving and rational thinking BEFORE

taking on the subject of God, religion, doctrine, interpretation, argumentation.

    Nope, entirely unlikely.

    Just doesn't happen!

We start life ALREADY immersed in superstitious traditions our parents happen to have.

We grow up with Jesus, or Buddha or Muhammed, etc. and it is like food, oxygen and water to our mind.

It is a "given." Unthinkably indisputable!

Then, we encounter Jehovah's Witnesses whose entire purpose is persuasion, rebuttal, and. . .(importantly) TAMPERING with the way

you will be able to think for the rest of your life!

They hotwire our consciousness and the shell game begins.

Their "Bible" study turns out to be a study of their own books.

The questions are pre-printed to short-circuit natural curiousity.

The answers are canned like spam.

A false view of history, chronology and other religious beliefs creates a Straw Man for them to light on fire.

They invite us to the Kingdom Hall and the charade of happy faces and eager acceptance is unleashed.

By the time you are Baptised and harnessed with the other mules, they keep you so exhausted no other life is imaginable or possible.

If doubts creep in--there is no one you can trust to keep your confidence. Like Nazi informants, no disloyalty escapes reprisal.

    The moral of the story?

Once you've been a JW, unless you completely RE-WIRE your thinking, they can remote drive you for the rest of your life.

“Terry”: “Once you've been a JW, unless you completely RE-WIRE your thinking, they can remote drive you for the rest of your life.”

True. That is a good caveat and warning for anyone trying to effecting and maintain their ascension out of the JW community. This rewiring of the brain (which as we know has a physical component to the process) should include both of those left-right hemispheres. We are able to get the logical, factual, linguistic, chronological information from sources such as this Web site; however, even with all of that, there can still be fairly significant and profound remnants of the JW mindset – namely fear and shame – that we can be carrying and be unaware, as they are deeply routed within the subconscious.

I’ve heard it said on a documentary about the mind that most people think that the conscious, or “core” of our perceived reality, is running the show, but that is actually a misperception, as the vast majority of our various cognitive functioning takes place “in the background” within the various facets of the subconscious level (from controlling cardiopulmonary and endocrine function to driving and directing our actions from a primal limbic and emotional base). One needs to have an awareness of what is taking place in their subconscious as an intrinsic formation of one’s personal worth and as a powerful driving force in one’s higher-level decision making.

Especially in our case, being former captives to the JW’s religion of the WT organization, we really need to address the hijacking of our creative right hemisphere by the dogma and policy which has been imposed upon our logical left hemisphere through the constant cultic loaded language. We have all been the victims of manipulation by repetitive linguistics every much as we have been by captives of a concept.

One must never underestimate the power and control of our own subconscious which has for so long been hijacked by the relentless poking and prodding by the very little “man behind the curtain.”

We are driven from within by hormones, pheremones, emotions, passions, cravings, addictions, misconceptions and whimsy of the mind.

How we remain sane for long periods of time is almost impossible to answer.

Staying on guard without becoming paranoid or non-productive is a real balancing trick.

Learning to stay upright and healthy is a tough course.

    It takes lots of practice!

Thats why its good for parents to encourage and help develop critical thinking skills with their children

while they are children to help them as they mature into adults.

Its especialy hard for children who grew up in religious cults like the WTS/JWS and be capable to have those

skills. There is always a paramount of fear imposed that restrains unbiased investigation.

Everything is related and connected to what they were taught and influenced by the WTS.

indoctrination, crippling an open rational perspective .
