They did same with Statins. They are now giving them to people who only have high cholesterol as a risk factor. This is experimental medicine, the studies are not there to prove this will reduce heart attack deaths. There is a lot more to it than cholesterol. I read a book by a heart surgeon, Dr. Sinatra. He give statins to patients with known heart disease only. He practices a more integrative approach to medicine. He has had good results reversing heart disease with diet, coq 10, red yeast rice, fish oil and some other things. He believes sugar is worse than cholesterol. But there is no money to be made on fish oil or diets, but lots of money to be made on statins.
I took a lot of talk from my old doctors for not taking statins, but now my cholesterol is fine, well within normal range, with no statins.
