  I dunno. The WTS is pretty contrarian in their own way; Rutherford started it, and they've never really shed that aspect of themselves.

  Not to mention their passive/agressive attitude towards mainstream Christianity (plus a whole shit-ton of other reasons) would disincline them towards genuine, authentic modernization.

  Don't make the mistake of thinking of the WTS as a progressive organization; it's ultraconservative and authoritarian to the core. Once a group has crossed that Rubicon, it's damn near impossible to reverse course.

  Not necessarily; plenty of liberal churches us the Bible as their foundation, too.

  It's the ones that insist that the Bible is the literal and infallible Word of God (and will brook no argument) that are unequivocally conservative and authoritarian.

  It's just a coat of paint on an old building. No matter how much you paint it will do nothing to the crumbling foundation. Their attempts to be relevant also included Sparlock, and a deaf video telling people not to masturbate. They are still stuck in a pre 1950s culture that cannot be fixed by a web site and snazzy graphics.
